Lunchtime Poll: Uh oh...

Campbell’s Soup is recalling 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs products with suspect undercooked meatballs, including SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs, and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars). Good thing the only cans of SpaghettiOs I own expired in Feb. ’09!

When was the last time you subjected yourself to spoonable pasta product in tomato soup? Vote below, and have a much better lunch than the one pictured.

This makes me nostalgic…I practically lived off SpagettiOs in college. Great, now I have that “Uh oh, SpagettiOs!” voice stuck in my head.

SpaghettiOs, Ramen noodles, and leftover pizza.

Now this is just sad; I actually like SpaghettiOs. Whenever I am sick SpaghettiOs, box mac and cheese, and tuna sandwiches with potato chips (in the sandwich, not on the side) are what I want. Yes, they were all things my mom made me when I was sick.

      Nice parenting.

I’ve never once eaten SpaghettiOs and I never will.

    • george

Me neither—I thought I was the only one!

When I ate SpaghettiO’s w/Meatballs I would to pick the meatballs out, they grossed me out but I liked the meat flavor. I’m just weird like that.

Uh, how exactly does a food recall announcement qualify to be an article on EW? Can we also expect EW to be reporting on what the DOW closed at today, or an analysis of the pitching matchup for tonight’s Mets – Yankees game? All that stuff is covered by zillions of other news sites; doesn’t the “E” in EW stand for “Entertainment?”

This is a pop culture blog, so I think it’s entirely appropriate.

Oh no, I gave my dog some this morning!! Oh wait… I gave him Chef Boy Ar Dee meatballs, never mind.

“Tell the chef to give my regards to Mrs. Boyardee!”

I try to stay way from canned meat as much as possible.

My mother LOVES these; I always preferred Chef Boy-ar-dee. But I don’t remember when Franco-American was bought by Campbell’s; seems odd to see their logo on that can.

My kids eat spaghetti-o’s all the time, but they like the ones with the hot dogs mixed in. I slip a Chef Boyardee in on them once in a while and they really don’t know the difference. (The mega-stuf’t raviolis are pretty good)

Glad they got recalled when I was an adult and not a kid, I love eating spaghetti o’s and i loved the commercials. Haven’t had them since elementary school and don’t think I could ever stomach them again anyway. Spaghetti o’s are in my memories along with Pixie’s stick, kid cuisines, and spray cheese.

Spaghetti-O’s were fun for kids whose parents did not have enough time to make dinner when they got home or make dinner for the following night the night before and stick it in the fride so that it can be reheated. College kids liked them too because their dorms only had microwaves. Still, nothing beats a real Italian spaghetti and meatballs.

Dude! I got sick a few weeks ago, and the last thing I ate was this. Three days chained to the bathroom…no wonder!

  • Heather

This doesn’t bother me since I only eat Spaghetti O’s without meatballs that is princess shaped

I got a little drunk last night and tore up a can without heating it up… Needless to say I woke up this mourning with the most excruciating pain in my abdomen. I nearly called 911. In fact I’m still sick and having pains. I’ll never eat spaghetti o’s again. With or without meatballs!
