'Gilmore Girl' Lauren Graham to star in 'Scream 4'?

Lauren-GrahamImage Credit: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic.comYup, you read that right. The beloved Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham is thisclose to joining the cast of the next installment in the Scream saga, according to a source close to the production.┬áThe actress better known to millions of rabid TV fans as Lorelai is the latest high-profile name attached to the self-referential slasher franchise. The series’ original writer and director, Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, are on board, as are the original trilogy’s stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. Graham would join Scream newcomers Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Lake Bell, Nico Tortorella, Anthony Anderson, and Marielle Jaffe. The film will start shooting in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the end of this month and is scheduled to hit theaters on April 15, 2011.

With all of that obligatory casting news and speculation out of the way, let’s take a step back and put this question to all you Gilmore Girls fans: Would you be more excited about Lorelai on the big screen or bummed that she might end up as part of the film’s bloody bodycount?

I’m more excited that she’ll be filming in Ann Arbor, where I live! LOVE HER

    • KingKong

Yes, I’m sure she’ll make it a point to drop by.

    • Johnny

I’m only a half hour away from Ann Arbor (and I’ll be there for school this fall). Is there going to be any casting for extras? I would love to be an extra in this movie!

  • LOL

This can only be a good thing.

    • Gael

Nico Tortorella is going to be a huge star.
im so glad hes got a part in this movie.
and lauren graham on the big screen is the best news ive gotten in a while. i miss her and gilmore girls

      • Steven

I loved Nico during his small stint on Make It or Break It. He was the only good thing about that show. So glad he’s going to be in this,

      • Jody

Gael, you can watch her on Parenthood

  • kevin

Thismuch closer to fulfilling my decade long fantasy of Lauren Graham and Courteney Cox playing sisters.

    • will

sadly there’s no relation between the characters…although that would be awesome!

    • Allie

I’m so glad I’m not the only one with this fantasy.

  • Melanie

On The Tonight Show a couple of nights ago, she said that she’s playing Emma Roberts’ mom in Scream 4.

  • will

Lauren Graham I’m happy about…it’s the Emma Roberts/Hayden Paettiere teenyboppers that I’m a little worried about…whose next Lindsay Lohan? I would have preferred more or less no-names than Disney/Nick stars. It just feels like they’re making it appeal to a younger crowd (which if it’s a Scream movie it should be rated R) and that doesn’t sit well with this Scream fan.

    • Stormy

I’d be much happier reading she’s going to be in a Gilmore Girls movie.

      • michelle

I would LOVE if they made a Gilmore Girls movie!!

      • Jenna

LOL because THAT would be such a great career move right? Let her move on please. Lorelai Gilmore is so 2006.

    • wino

dont worry, im guessing emma/hayden will be nixed off at the very begining.

      • Kevin

Emma Roberts is the main character. She’s not dying.

      • springs

Okay, I just googled Emma Roberts and I still have no idea who she is.

  • Michael Kennedy

I love her in this but she announced that she was FOR SURE in this on Jay leno Wednesday night. As for Anderson and Jaffe…that is new information. Do we know what roles?

  • Madd

Emma Roberts played Rory Culkin’s love interest in Lymelife…any word on their roles in this?

  • VCI

Happy because I love Graham, sad because although this movie will probably be a nice pay check for her, she can do way better than this franchise.

    • Dave

The first two Scream movies are great and received great reviews. They were smart, scary, and funny. The third one may not have been as good, but Scream is still one of the better horror movie franchises around. I don’t think it’s beneath her at all.

      • tlo

I liked the third Scream movie better than the second one.

      • Viv

The third one is ~high art! Parker Posey plays a manic actress and Dawn Weiner saves the day! Perfection!

      • Dave

Haha Viv! I actually loved Parker Posey in Scream 3. She was my favorite part of that movie. And don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Scream 3 was a bad movie, I just didn’t think it was quite as good as the first two. I still enjoyed it.

  • Melanie

I would be way more excited about seeing her as Lorelai on the big screen. There really needs to be a good cinematic wrap-up movie to the series “Gilmore Girls” that was not concluded to many satisfactorily on TV!!

  • David

Lauren said on Leno earlier this week that she’s already signed on. Your source must be a little behind.

    • Kyle

Was just going to say that! When she was on Leno she was talking about the role and how she didn’t know alot about it since they keep it so under wraps. She’ll be playing Emma Roberts’ character’s mother and she was talking about going out to Michigan to film. Uhhhh ew.com get with it. Good news nonetheless though

  • SXiPPY

Yeah, while I am excited Lauren’s in the mix, I really don’t dig the youth appeal they are trying to garner with Emma/Hayden. I was obsessed with this franchise in it’s heyday, but now I’m dreading this will be as stale as part 3 was. I’d prefer an adult set vs teenagers in peril again. Been there, done that. And P.S., I hope they cast either Lindsay Lohan or Katie Holmes as the opening victim, as both are in need of a career revive.

  • Kylie

This film needs Katie Cassidy stat.

  • Kevin

I love her. She’s so beautiful and talented.

  • Clint

I don’t see her in the scream saga I hope she gets killed off first cause I don’t like her at all

  • Lui

    Dear Mr. “Scream4″ director.
