Blowing up the cement truck, the first of many large booms. The mechanical jaws with Tory as the victim. Skiing behind the rowing crew. (the rowing coach was classic)Any of the episodes where they test Speed or Point Break myths.
I agree that the best ones test widely held beliefs. So much of what they do, while fun, really isn’t about myths or urban legends. Stuff like testing movie stunts, etc. — well, they are called stunts for a reason, and I don’t think many people actually believe they are real.
The Duct tape myths were pretty good. I also thought it was hilarious when Tory jumped off his set bedroom..when they were testing the myth about whether you get more drunk on just beer, or beer and spirits.
My favorit explosion has to be the water heater rocket. I can watch the video of that over and over again.
But as far as actual busted/proven myths I would have to go with when they attempted to embed straw into a palm tree.
I really liked the Escape from Alcatraz and Moon Landing episodes. I’m sure they are running out of actual myths, so the filler shows are fine with me.
Some of my favorite myths are the first ones that I saw:
raising a boat with ping pong balls and the balloon lift a human child episode.
For some reason the, paper made bow and arrow is one of my favorites too.
Do duck quacks echo?
Quack, da*n you!
The exploding cement truck. Best. Episode. Ever!
Everybody has mentioned some great ones, so far, but not two of my personal favorites:
The “elephants are afraid of mice” myth was cool. Adam’s reaction was priceless; he’s such a big kid.
I also liked the “talking to plants” myth. Kari is a trip, “I love you, love you, love you, love you, sweet adorable pea.”
The break-in myth, with the magnets going CLANG and the whole duct system vibrating during the, um, stealthy infiltration.
My kids are both MythBusters fans, so here’s their votes: “any episode with an explosion, plus the shark episodes. And Exploding Pants because “Buster goes to New York. I wonder if he landed in Madison Square Gardens?” It’s so funny!”
Escape from Alcatraz!!
Maybe it is because I was a huge band/orchestra nerd in high school, but I love the exploding trombone myth. So very fun.
I’m also a big fan of the historical myths like the civil war rocket (and really any meat explosion), son of a gun, and the Archimedes laser.
I absolutely love this show. Don’t even know if I can pick an all time fave, but for recent stuff it has to be the water slide, I laugh every time I see that. Or anytime Jamie says “lard”.
I love the mix of stuff that they do – myths, sayings, movie stunts, etc. The break-in episodes were great, and their shark specials are always fun too. Great, great show.
