My favorite MythBusters episodes are the ones that actually bust myths; sure, I like a good recreational explosion, and I’ve never watched a slo-mo demolition I didn’t love, but MB‘s best moments (aside from the goofiness) come from testing the veracity of conventional wisdom. Has anyone really wondered if a sailboat made of duct tape would float? Is that a myth? It is not. (But it does in fact float. Thanks, Jamie and Adam!)
Give me the voice that shatters glass, PopWatchers. Bring on the “beer before liquor” hangover testing. Let me know if I should waste perfectly good vodka on a Christmas tree. But maybe I’m not a typical MythBusters fan. What’s your favorite episode? What do you think will make the top 25?

i liked them testing cures for skunk. that was super useful and oh so funny.

Hindenburg/thermite should be on the list, as should the Christmas Rube Goldberg machine (which will fulfill the Diet Coke/Menthos quota). The MacGyver episode also needs to be represented (maybe show the glider) as does something pirate or ninja (eyepatch maze would be my vote). Personally I’d like to see beer goggles, but I doubt that will make the top 25.
When they tried to rip a phone book in half. So random and simple, yet brilliant.
When they tested if you can actually slip on a banana peal. They’ve ended up with truck-load of banana peal in the improvised ring and then Jamie and Adam had to run across that, with an egg in a spoon…
Must be fun to be them. Seriously, I think they have the best job in the world…
Second the phone book episode. Also, the hot water heater rocket and the boat made of ice in the Alaska episode.
I’m a fan of anything that causes Jaime to giggle.
I liked Beergoggles (do people really look more attractive after you’ve been drinking) and the exploding water heater, mostly because we went and checked ours after the episode and found out it was broken in a similar way — might have saved our lives!
Phone book, christmas trees, rube goldberg are a must. At least one or two of the times Tory hurts himself – my fav is when he flips off his bike. When Jaime Vendera breaks a glass with an unamplified human voice – that’s a classic. Accelerant in the toilet – the shot of Buster’s pants blown off, sitting on a toilet, but still holding a cigarette in his hand is priceless. And finally – the sawdust cannon, which the Build Team replaced with Coffee creamer, that created such a fireball that the build team nearly pooped their pants.
I should be above this, but Tory trying to jump the wagon never. gets. old. And they replay the every chance they get, so if that’s not in there…
That coffee creamer explosion was AWE-SOME. And the one where Adam was slipping on a giant surface covered with lube – was that the banana peel one? Whatever the reason for it, it was hysterical!!!
I like the movie myths episodes, when they test the break-in myths. Also, watching Tory get dragged in the blue jeans myths was fun.
The older episodes are some of my favorites. Pop rocks and soda, biscuit bazooka, penny drop, and the chicken gun are all classic myths!
My favorite ep showed what happens when you pour water on a grease fire. It should be required viewing in every classroom of little kids, because their first instinct when they see a fire on Mommy’s stove is to throw water on it. Adam and Jamie might save lots of lives by showing their results.
Showing what happens when you shoot a gun inside a pressurized airliner was also great. The Feds show that episode to air marshal trainees.
I’d also add to your list the episode where they showed how to get out of a car that was underwater. That could save some lives.
I agree about the grease fire. That was 1 of my favs. Also the breaking in Special Episode.
The all JAWS episode… Best. Episode. Ever. And any episode that has Kari in a bikini/tight-fitting clothing.
How about the ‘fainting goats’ episode, where Kari flashed them? Didn’t show anything, but a guy can dream.
