Syfy renews 'Ghost Hunters' for seventh season

ghost-huntersImage Credit: Andrei Jackamets/SyfyEven though I can’t stand typing “Syfy” and pretending it’s a viable word, you should know that the network has renewed its flagship series Ghost Hunters for a seventh season. Twenty-five new episodes, nerds! Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will resume their roles as the leaders of TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society). Don’t just sit around waiting for the luxurious grip of Death to massage your shoulder at dusk — call them today!

After the jump, watch a YouTube compilation of all the best evidences of ghosts caught on tape, paying close attention to the moment at 0:37 when a strategically placed floral print hotel room chair makes it seem like Grant Wilson is wearing a lovely skirt.

  • Madd

My mom had that skirt in 1993.

My favorite part of the show is when Steve gets the background of that week’s site from Grant and Jason, then goes and relays the same information to Tango.

  • devilsidkick

thank god they got rid of BRIAN.

    • Michelle

Brian made me ashamed to live in the same state as him.

  • Lori

LOL. That “skirt” is pretty funny! I got bored watching the paranormal plumbers so I stopped watching a few seasons back. To be honest, I found their on-screen plumbing more interesting.

Everytime I see a Roto-Rooter van drive me I laugh.

Okay I enjoy Ghost Hunters, but please tell me SYFY renewed Destination Truth ! Josh Gates should be a mega-star.

They’re currently out shooting Season 4, which will be on the air in Fall 2010

I love this show. The other networks are putting on macho ghost shows with muscled burdened hosts that are just dreadful. GH is the real deal. Not every bump is a ghost, Zak Baggins.

THANK YOU, I was just about to say this. D:

I love this show and am so excited it got renewed! I think they played the very first ep last week b/c it showed their wives…(Grant and his wife together were adorable).

  • Michelle

Love me some Steve and Tango. I can’t wait for the new season.

YAY!!!! LOVE this show! It’s the only paranormal one I watch. Simply, BECAUSE they set out TO DEBUNK so when something outrageous happens it is by far more legitimate. All the others seem hellbent on it all being real and the ridiculousness of some them stretches ALL belief and credulity. I do have to admit though, that I effin hate the international spinoff because the lead guy is such a tool! Can’t stand him! Gave up after 3 tries. So pleased to have the gang back for another season. I would love to see them do some follow-ups on a couple of places. Some of the sites have needed a little more time given to them and I wish they could do that. I truly hope they do this at some point.

this show entertains me to no end, glad it’s coming back.

Between Ghost Hunters, Celebrity Ghost Stories (my newest obsession) and Psychic kids on Bio Channel, my weekly paranormal tv quote is filled! (PS – new season of Celebrity Ghost stories starts in july if anyone is interested)

To me the best show of this kind is “PARANORMAL STATE” and chip coffey is the best one out there.

    • Diana

Do you watch Chip on Psychic Kids? He’s awsome. What channel is Paranormal State on?

People will believe or not, their choice.

My issue with GH is that they seem to have strayed from their original shows where they’d go to a person’s home to try to see what is going on, to mostly servicing places such as a famous person’s home, or a military base. This past half season, they FINALLY seemed to have started showing “regular people’s homes” again.

Interestingly, Ghost Hunters International which started out very rough, has in many cases surpassed GH in terms of investigative techniques.

Also, the first season of Ghost Hunters Academy was pretty poorly designed, but the new season is VASTLY improved.

At the end of the day, after 6 seasons, there has been very little “evidence” which has been difficult to explain in “real world” terms. But, anything “paranormal” would probably occur few and far between, otherwise it would be considered “normal.” They have, though, debunked or disproven a LOT of claims of “paranormal activity.”

I don’t always agree with their methods or findings, I really take issue with the production and editing at times too, and I have heard and seen some disheartening things about “off camera” stuff since they’ve become so popular, but I still think that they’re FAR ahead of the other paranormal investigative shows.

And the South Park parody of them was hilarious. Even the GH team loved it. Yes, including Grant.

Are you kidding me Brian made the show interesting! I loved him getting in trouble and defending himself and his lies were so funny. I miss them having a punching bag like Brian. Seriously International is better because at least they have Barry that seems so theatrical. USA version kind of sucks because everyone gets along. Bring Brian back!!
