On paper Spain should win because the amount of good players they have is ridiculous. Iker Casillas, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Ramos, Fernando Torres, etc. Unbelievable

    I love football players!!
But in the list they didn’t include my favorite: Kaká from Brazil.
He may not be the hottest, but to me he is very very beautiful!

(But Brazil is going to lose this year, I hope. And WE (Argentina ♥) are going to win!!)

Oy, but he’s got the most unfortunate name… at least if you speak Spanish.

Not really, the pronunciation is different besides that word you are thinking is with a C not K

Random picky note here: You mentioned that the Cup is being broadcast on ESPN and ABC — but not that the entire thing is being broadcast on Univisión. The commentary is soooo boring in English that I have not watched any of the last few World Cups on ABC, much preferring the Spanish-language ones. (Even my wife, who does not speak Spanish, insists on the Spanish commentary.)

Ugh, I hate their style. And Spanish is my first language (but fútbol commentary in Spain when I was growing up was pretty sober and even – we only had one foreign announcer who subscribed to the “more is more” version of announcing games). That over-the-top, insane howling at goals is annoying as h*ell, and only appropriate in international matches when your team scores (maybe). Then again, not knowing the language might make it sound more exciting. When I lived in Asia, my husband would catch NFL games in Japanese, and every now and then the announcers sounded so EXCITED, while he would look at what was going on and just shrug. Because it wasn’t all that exciting. :-)

Don’t care a bit about soccer and I can’t believe they can play 90 minutes without a goal. I will only be watching the highlight shows on ESPN. No need to commit more time to it!

Soccer is growing in the United States–and that is a fantastic thing that a fantastic sport is becoming more and more popular. GO TEAM USA!!!!!! LET’S BEAT ENGLAND!!!

    football crazy………..but????

  • almaz

It was shocking that we drew with USA, it was a bad blunder for Green to like bloody Dempsey scored a goal. Not bad at the second half but we ENGLISH people are supporting the team to beat the Algerians. The predictions 2-1 hopefully!
