Rashida Jones is Zooey’s girlfriend, in a fun twist on the Rudd-Jones romance from 2009′s I Love You, Man. All five of them can sit around having staring contests while trying to determine who has the most unique and exquisite eye color. Still no word on who plays their “overbearing mother.” [THR]

For some reason I thought Emily Mortimer kind of looked like Lyndsey Marshal (who played Cleopatra on Rome) when I first saw this picture.
Speaking of Lyndsey Marshal, what’s she been up to these days? She was fantastic on Rome but I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything else.
A little over a year ago she did a play in London with James McAvoy called Three Days of Rain. Don’t know what she has done more recently.

Agreed! Her 30 Rock cameo was priceless. And Elizabeth Banks is great on the show too. This looks like a perfect cast so far.

Okay, I love Banks, Rudd and Jones, but I am afraid if they star in too many movies together I’m going to start mixing them all up. Banks and Rudd were also in 40 year-old Virgin together. Oy vey.
I know she’s too young, but I can see Frances McDormand playing the overbearing mother of these kids. You can see traces of her in all four of these actors, Deschanel the most. For a more age-appropriate star, maybe Diane Keaton?
McDormand already played Deschanel’s mother in Almost Famous. I also think Diane Keaton is a great choice.

Yeah, Blythe Danner would be convincing for Deschanel and Banks. Rudd and Mortimer would look more like their dad’s side of the family, I guess.
