How about Carole King, James Taylor or the Eagles for “theme” shows….
Oooh, I said Carly Simon earlier but Carol King would be good. Ditto for the EAgles.
What if there’s an episode devoted to a specific decade? Think about it…the club gets assigned a decade in order to remember their musical past. They sing, dress, and maybe even dress like their in the time period. What decade then? I say the 70s or 80s.
i have few themes actually
girlbands spice girls destinys child etc
beyonce theme
alicia keyes theme
michael jackson theme
I was thinking that maybe they should figure out a way to incorporate some original songs. What do you guys think?
i liked the journey tribute and look forward to season two
Funny. For diversity’s sake, the gay showrunner wants to add a Christian to the cast. When straight shows add a gay man or woman, it’s for THE AGENDA’S sake.
“Christian” does not automatically mean “right winger.” My church is very open to all orientations, we celebrate them. Get educated and stop painting with such a broad brush. Besides: diversity IS the “agenda,” in both examples you give.
While I agree with your point about Christian not equalling right-wing in general, according to TV Guide Ryan Murphy has said that this character *will* be rather conservative and will object to both the club’s racier numbers and Kurt’s sexuality.
yes, the very last thing on the planet we need in the US is more ‘Christian perspective’. We’re already familiar with it, if not drowning in it.
One: “very last thing on the planet we need in the US” is a very confusing statement…
Two: Religion has had very little involvement in the show (other than Puck trying to be a ‘good Jew’ by dating Rachel and singing some SDJr.) so far. It’d be interesting to see a fair dealing of it, no matter which religion is portrayed.
@Meg: That’s unfortunate that Murphy is taking the character that route, even though he’s quoted in this piece saying she wouldn’t be a joke character (i.e. stereotyped, made light-of).
I would FAR prefer if they stopped doing all these tribute eps / getting guest stars in and developed storylines properly, and expanded roles of the lesser shown characters.
A Michael Jackson tribute episode is most! No on a Britney Spears episode. I really will love to hear more rock songs on the show.
I think they need to recruit Justin Timberlake to play Will Shusters brother.
that’d be bad ass
Totally! They look alike and JT can sing and dance!
I’m actually going through “Jesse-withdrawal”. I’m hoping that he pops up somewhere in Season 2.
To Ryan Murphy-
I know Mr. Shue is a Spanish teacher…why not have some spanish music for the glee club to sing? If you are going country to expand your audience, why not play w/the bi-lingual market?
I like this idea… Perhaps Santana to take the lead on perhaps a Shakira song with the girls? I’ve heard that what would be next if/after ND wins nationals that they might compete againt show choirs from other countries…. Good time to bust out some culture!
The perfect actor to cameo is Zack Efron. He obviously can sing and he would make a good rival to Puck and Finn. Probably might be to expensive or Murphy might think his HSM days will conflict…
they shoud soo do a Micheal Jackson episode
Some recommendations for the Season 2 tribute episodes are:
1. PINK FLOYD – “Wish You Were Here”, “Money”, “Comfortably Numb”, The Wall”…all in all you’re just another brick in the wall….
2. Elton John – “Funeral For Friend”, “Yellow Brick Rroad”, Saturday Night”(‘s Alright for Fighting),”Your Song”, “Bennie and The Jets”, “Don’t Let Sun Go Down On Me”, “Candle In The Wind”
3. David Bowie – “Space Oddity”, Rebel Rebel”, “The Jean Genie/Suffregete City” Mash-up,”Under Pressure”,”China Girl”, Modern Love”, “Ashes To Ashes”
Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson for the tribute episodes! Their song catalogs are varied and popular enough for Glee!
I agree about Janet Jackson – would love to see them do “Rhythm Nation”
YES YES YES! My show choir did Rhythm Nation my Junior year for our state competition and I think ND would KILL it!
