We laugh at them. We quote them at will. We love them more than we do some of our own family members. They are, of course, the truly iconic characters in pop culture, and in the current issue of EW, we celebrate the heck out of them with our list of the 100 Greatest Characters of the Last 20 Years, featuring quotes from the men and women who brought these creations to life. In addition to picking up a copy of the issue, check out the following video, in which Jeff Jensen and I pay tribute to honorees including Homer Simpson, Sydney Bristow, Jack Bauer, Don Draper, and a guy we may have talked about once or twice on Totally Lost: John Locke. (By the way, we’ll keep you posted when the final Totally Lost is ready to post.) You’ll also hear Glee’s Jane Lynch and 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan talk about their onscreen alter egos. After you watch the video, do some role playing of your own and tell us: Who are your favorite characters of the last 20 years?

I missed you guys. I’m so glad you are still doing these sort of videos!
I miss you guys too! Is there any hope at all for a final Totally Lost?
I miss watching GOB and Locke.
Doc, please do a Top 10 (or 15) best LOST episodes list. Also a final report card for Season 6!
sorry, but there were still very big problems and ommissions on the list.
for example, Sue from Glee hasn’t been around long enough to become lengendary, the first season isn’t even over yet.
and there were some questionable people left of the list. (ie., Gill Grissom from CSI and Steve Urkle from Family Matters, among a quite a few others). Neither one of their names I just named were on the list, but you included Sue from Glee??????
AMEN
I agree with some choices on this list, others not so much. I could never do a 100 greatest list because in each show/book/movie I like, either some aspect of a character connects with me, or I may have a love-hate relationship with them or the person feels so real to me. So it’s hard, at least for me, to narrow down my favorites, because sometimes even villains have affected me somehow, and were well portrayed/depicted.
Some standouts in my mind include Keyzer Souze, The Charmed sisters, Buffy, the Firefly crew, scully and mulder, Hurley and Juliet from LOST, Olivia from Fringe, Mulder and Scully and Dean and Sam Winchester!
How awesome would it have been if Doc and Dan had been around during the Buffy years doing a Totally Buffy program.
As it is EW needs to have these two continue doing videos were they talk about stuff, its always entertaining and they have great chemistry
Glad to see you guys again. Enjoyed this feature. Only thing I disagree with is “Tracy Jordan.” Morgan is such a bad actor that he can’t even play an entertaining version of himself.
Why are you wasting your time with this nonsense when we are still waiting for our last Totally Lost!!!
Personally, I miss the omission of Veronica Mars. You added edward cullen and omitted the best teenage detective EVER???? standout for me was Buffy.
Thanks Dan & Doc, but where is our promised final Lost installment?
It’s great seeing you guys again. I hope there will be many more video collaborations in the future.
Thank you so much guys! I loved it! You are so great together and I’ve missed you so much since Lost ended! You make me laugh & cry!!
I got a little emotional seeing and hearing the guys talking about Lost! Can’t wait for the finale edition of TL…I am LOST without it! (AND YOU!)
How about Hit-Girl from Kick Ass and DR christian Troy from Nip Tuck!
