The new trailer for The Expendables makes it seem as epic as a newly unearthed Star Wars film, and so manly that I’m pretty sure one of my ovaries just shriveled up. I could not love it more. It starts with Sylvester Stallone’s voice, “We are the shadows, and the smoke in your eyes. We are the ghosts, that hide in the night.” Then it’s got a crow dancing on a metallic skull as the voices of Bruce Willis (“Lights out!” “You got a problem with it?”) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (“Come on!” “Run you bastard!”) are heard. Then, it runs through the last names of the action legends who are coming together for the first and only time in this movie as we hear their voices delivering more lines that you would have bet your life would have been in this script:
Schwarzenegger: “He loves playing in the jungle.”
Willis: “Let’s get down to business.”
Jason Statham: “If we get out of here, it’s a miracle.”
Jet Li: “Time’s up.”
Mickey Rourke: “Come on, let’s see what you got.”
Dolph Lundgren: “Be careful.”
Steve Austin: “I’m gonna kill him.”
Randy Couture: “It makes you stronger, Petey.”
Terry Crews: “Anything that gets in my way, kaboom.”

Action ‘legends’? Really? Aren’t Randy Couture and Steve Austin pro-wrestlers? Have they ever even been in films?
I wouldn’t say they are legends either, but they have each appeared in a couple of movies. They are breaking into the acting biz kind of like Dwayne Johnson has done.
Randy Couture is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter not a “pro-westler”. What he does is real. I suggest you catch a UFC event to see the difference.

I saw the first trailer during the UFC fight last week (yay ppv) and I am so excited about this. I don’t care if it ends up sucking majorly, it’s all about the actors! lol
Can’t wait to see this film, it looks epic! Of course “Only Time” is talking too soon, from what I read there are already talks for an Expendables sequal…
The action legends I think the trailer is really referring to is Arnie, Sly & Bruno the Box Office Action trio that dominated the early 90′s. Arnold and Bruce’s parts are small and they probably would not return for a sequel.

Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and the greatest Jean Claude Van Damme would kick all the old asses in the Expendables. These 3 great white hopes should star in their own martial arts movie. It would make the Expendables look like losers. Vive la Quebec!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to Wikipedia: Jean-Claude Van Damme was personally offered a role by Stallone, but turned it down because he felt there was no substance to his character.
And: Steven Seagal was asked to play a cameo role, but turned down the offer due to negative experiences with producer Avi Lerner.
And finally: When Chuck Norris does pushups, he doesn’t lift himself up. He pushes the world down.
Apparently Chuck was never involved with the movie but I thought he needed his own Wikipedia blurb too.

I have to admit I’m excited to see this film.
Aren’t Bruce and Arnold just a glorified cameo in this? It’s very interesting that they are getting billed towards the top. I mean I get that they are legends in the action movie realm but they are implying that both of them are in this movie way more than they probably are. That could turn some people off going into this movie not knowing that.
