I got into “True Blood” relatively recently, and I’m one of the people rushing up to catch before season 3.
I’ve been especially impressed by how good Kwanten is because playing dumb is a LOT harder than it looks. (I was also semi-shocked when I found out he’s Austrailian.)
Actually, all it takes is an actor interview to make him look like a credible actor. The Aussie accent instantly disabuses one of any thoughts that ryan is a dumb blond playing a dumb blond.

i watch true blood for the secondary characters, and i personally think jason is one of the most genius personalities i can recall on television. for being extremely self-absorbed and dumb, he still manages to come off as charming and endearing. lafayette and jason make this show for me.
I so agree with you. Lafayette is one of the best characters on the show and I’m so glad they haven’t killed him off.

The show has become “smart women teamed with dumb men with pecs and abs.” Kwanten never would have gotten
the role without those 2 “qualities.”
I have to disagree. Alan Ball the creator of the show has said many times how much he admires Ryan Kwanten, that he’s a very good actor because in real life he’s the complete opposite to Jason….an introvert who loves to read and play scrabble….btw he happens to have a great body because he practices and teaches yoga.
I love Jason’s character is one of the many things that keeps the show funny and light. His relationship with Andy truely makes the show, glad they keep him around in the books too. Because too many people die on this show hope he never does.
I love Jason – he is my second favorite character (Eric being my first). As much as Jason makes me laugh, he also can make me cry (like when he & Sookie talk in the hotel in Dallas). I can’t wait for Season 3 to start!
What amazes me is that people assume because Jason’s dumb that therefore Ryan Kwanten must be like that in real life!!!….For me Jason is the most entertaining character on True Blood and that’s because of Ryan’s superb acting skills. The authentic accent, the comedic timing and his chemistry with the other actors on screen. He’s the one that should be nominated for an Emmy not Anna Pacquin!
If Ryan Kwanten isn’t nominated for an Emmy this year, the Emmy’s should be ashamed of themselves. Heck, there’s some movie actors that can’t hold a candle to Mr. Kwanten’s acting on True Blood. He definitely displays great comedic acting and true acting with sadness, etc.

I’ve been saying this since forever, Kwanten is the BEST actor on TB. He definitely has the hardest job, playing dumb but kinda smart and muscular at the same time.
