The poster for Gulliver’s Travels has arrived. Jack Black looks giant — and younger — as the title character, a reporter who is washed up on an island inhabited by little people, in the 3-D reimagination of the Jonathan Swift story. I love Jack Black, but I can’t help thinking it might’ve been nice to get Jason Segel and Emily Blunt on the poster. Or at least their names. Is Black alone the reason you’ll see this movie?

I would never see anything just for Jack Black. I usually think he’s more annoying than funny. Jason Segel’s presence would, however, make me consider it. But then the 3-D factor ensures that I will never bother to see it. I really wish studios would lay off the 3-D for a while (though I guess it might be useful in this particular movie, but it would depend on how they’re doing the story).
black is the reason i won’t see this movie.
He is a horrible actor.
I would totally see it for Jason Segel, but the 3D element might scare me off, as JS tends to be naked in most of the movies I have seen him in…
I’ll see a Jack Black movie before I’ll see a Jason Segel movie, no question. In fact, thanks to Black and Blunt, I think I will see this DESPITE Segel.
Oh, Emily Blunt, the awful movies I am willing to see for you…
Ted Danson will always be my Gulliver. I didn’t even know they were making a remake until i saw the poster at the theater 2 days ago. I really think they should have picked a better actor than Black. now it is just going to be a comedy, it won’t be as good as the book or the original movies
Who’s Jason Segal?
I have to go with Rebecca on this one. If I want to revisit the story of Gulliver’s Travels, I’m going to pick up the book or watch Ted Danson.
My question is, who on earth do they think is going to want to see this movie??
I take it that the head of casting went for irony when he/she hired Jack Black to play Gulliver. Jack Black is anything but a giant even with camera tricks. Anyway, Ted Danson was the best Gulliver.
Burt, Jason Siegel is the tall guy on the TV show How I met Your Mother but he is better know for the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
maybe they’re going for the kid’s market at Christmas time??
To me, the BEST ‘Gulliver’ will always be Kerwin Mathews from “The Three Worlds of Gulliver”. Simply amazing!
