'The Tyra Show' comes to an end: Let's kiss Tyra's 'big, fat ass' goodbye with a mash-up!

Poor Joel McHale. I honestly don’t know how The Soup host will cope with LAT — that is, Life After Tyra. Because The Tyra Show came to an end today after five whole years on the air. That means we’ll no longer see any of this. Or this. Or this.

So, as Joel says, after “over 700 episodes, 454 weaves, 1,686 fat man suits, 2,525 clinically traumatized audience members, and one cease-and-desist letter to The Soup,” let’s celebrate with by re-watching the E! show’s brilliant Tyra mash-up from Friday. And, for the sake of fairness, see the first few minutes of Tyra’s final program after the jump as well.

I actually mourn the loss of this show for Joel’s sake. On the upside, Tyra only has one show now.

I just watched the last show. I literally swelled up towards the end when she talked about how when the show first began some journalists said the show wouldn’t last more than 2 weeks. Yet the show has lasted 5 years with multiple Emmys. iT SHOWS that we all should follow our hearts and dreams. You’re an inspiration, Tyra.
And at least ANTM is still on the air…I would die if she ever cancelled that!

  • Emma

Did she get canceled due to low ratings or is it because she finally turned 40?

    • JP

She wanted to do something else so she quit doing the show

    • Ann

      Tyra’s 37 not 40!

  • Madd

First Tony Danza, then Tyra…poor Joel!
He still has Wendy Williams, though. I love Joel so, so much.

  • Jed

The CW was turning into the TB network and thnk goodness this “next Oprah” is going away!

  • Shelly

he says 2,545 clinically traumatized audience members

    not 2,525

    • Ian

Phew… good thing you pointed that out!

  • tvgirl48

Wow, well I’m one person who actually really liked Tyra. As a person in the 18-34 demo she was talking about, I loved her show most of the time. She’s like the Oprah for women under the age of 50.

    • Ricky

why do you need a woman on tv? Why can’t you just be a person all by yourself?

Same with the Oprah idiots, “oh Oprah, I will read your book”, they can’t think for themselves.”

  • Laura

Ah, so long as Joel and The Soup still have Wendy Williams-everything will be fine.

  • Sally in Chicago

I never got Tyra and her show. And honestly, 5 years is NOT a long time to be a talk show….just ask Oprah and Phil Donahue…have you heard of Regis? He’s been on forever….I suspect the ratings effected her show closing…..Good! Make room for Wendy Williams yawl!

and how long has she been engaged to that guy in NYC and not married YET?
You guys know she and SEAL were tight at one time and he left her a**.

    • GoMe!

Actually Tyra ended the show herself to work on her movie studio.
She has the highest ratings for women 18-34…
Check your facts. If she wanted to, she could’ve the kept the show on much longer!

      • Sunshine

Thats not true. Apparently contract negotiations were not going favorably, thus she decided to cut and run, before her show got axed. Its better to say that you left of your own accord, than the public humiliation of getting axed.

      • GoMe!

        Sunshine…can I get a source from you?

  • p-winkle

i really loved the show it helped women see that we don’t have to be perfect but we still are deserving.

    • Sally in Chicago

Do women need Tyra to tell them that? NOPE. And that kind of spiel is being spewn everyday online and in the newspapers. As if women don’t already know.

      • Gladys

Actually there are some women who don’t feel confident and sometimes they need someone like Tyra to remind them how important they are. Not everyone can be strong like you Sally.
That’s like a funny person saying…”do we need comedians to make us laugh? Because I can make me and my friends laugh without them…”

  • Sandy Cohen

Rumor has it she is a MONSTER!!!

  • kahuna

I love Tyra. Is she in love with herself? Probably. But she seems to have enough love left over to spread around.

    • Teshome Sahilu

Wow! The shows were amazing and she is powerful
