Paula Abdul's return to 'Drop Dead Diva': A big production. But a big deal?

Oh Lifetime, I’m a huge fan of Drop Dead Diva, but even I think you’re taking the return of Paula Abdul a little too seriously. Abdul’s due to reprise her role as a judge on the show’s season 2 premiere June 6. According to the promo (watch it below), “Only one question has been on America’s mind….Where is Paula?” Filming a dance number apparently. And, you know, appearing on American Idol and inking a deal to join a new CBS reality series, Got to Dance.

If you’ve yet to get into Drop Dead Diva, give it a chance. Lifetime is showing a marathon of season 1′s 13 episodes Sunday, May 30, starting at 10 a.m. ET. See why it made EW’s Must List last summer. Thanks to star Brooke Elliott, it’s a guilt-free pleasure. (Watch a promo.)

I absolutely LOVE this show, and Brooke Elliott is wonderful! I hope it gains a larger audience and stays on the air for a long while.

    Can’t wait to see Paula!

Love the show, but worry that since it’s been off of the air so long and it had such a short run that it the ratings might not justify another season after the second one. *finger crossed*

No, you morons take Modern Family to seriously .

I love me some Paula, but I AM a little over her.

What I’m not over is Brooke Elliott! And Check out Kate Levering as a blonde. My favorite bitch is back — and she’s blonde. Bring on season two!

Brooke Elliott has a phenomenal voice and is a phenomenal talent and the season two premiere was perfection. It’s like seeing “Legally Blonde” every week. I really hope the ratings are there.
