Remember what Christian said, “there is no now” We don’t know how long it took for all of them to meet up. 10 years, 100 years, or a 1,000 years.
The last shot should have zoomed out to show us the entire island as a whole.
I thought they were going to do this when Lapidus got the plane in the air. Oh well…maybe on the DVD
I was actually afraid they were going to be another Target commercial. I enjoyed the commercials, but I was like “Not over the credits!”
They looked like set photos to me. I thought they were just showing us the “crash” set without any of the actors present.
Thought the same thing, just showing us the set as a homage.
That’s what I thought too–like when some studio shows show the whole set and dim the lights at the end of the finale.
Not sure how you could NOT think that was part of the finale. Of all things ABC could add, it was this? Seriously?
LOST has never once shown any footage AFTER the LOST title page flashes at the end. There was no reason to look into it any further. It was a simple TV method used to keep from spoiling the emotion you were currently feeling. You can’t go from Jack’s death to “Powerball is 20 million tonight!” two seconds later. They let it settle, which is exactly what they needed to do. They avoided what happened after Charlie’s death, where it cut abruptly to a commercial with music blasting and smiling models, which totally ruined the tearful emotion many of us were experiencing.
The producers should have insisted on just black then. The beach scene did cause confusion. Soften it up for people? My ass, that is Disney-owned ABC for you!
I am cheesed off about it. I have spent so much time trying to decide whether that wreckage was the Ajira flight or the Oceanic flight. Thanks, ABC.
It’s just a line of chalk on a wall
Leave it to the suits at ABC to do something ridiculous. Did they not realize after six years that true Lost fans will try to analyze and obsess over every little detail?!
ABC is a company. It is in their interest to get us “hooked” and to keep us wondering. It just seems like good marketing strategy on their part; bad storytelling. But again, let’s remember the source here – the American Broadcasting Corporation. Bottom line, baby! “How long can we keep these people looking and thinking about our brand??”
I think the show is like any great piece of art – it left room for our own interpretation. You can choose to see the deserted aircraft in any way that suits your analysis of the story.
Wow…40 % of people are brain dead.
It’s like a bad cult that were brainwashed by their leader, Doc Jensen.
yeah…except Doc never even came close to thinking the wreckage meant they all died in the crash…..
Its like people have never watched tv before.
Oh they are showing still photos as the very last credits run…WHAT DOES THAT MEEEEANNNN????
Seriously stupid.
I wasn’t under the impression that Jensen misunderstood the credits.
Ha! Yeah as soon as they showed those beach images, I thought, “oh great…people are going to freak about this even though its nothing more than way for us to reflect on how far the show has come”. And what do you know, that’s exactly what happened!
I thought it was a “life goes on” kind of moment; I recognized it as flight 815, just there on the island for eternity. Now that this has come to light as a network filibuster, I hope Darlton removes it for the DVD.
It never would have appeared on the DVD. Just like the “next week” previews never do. The credits roll on part of the screen while they show their teases, which are all network-produced, not created by the writers. None of it is ever “part of the show.” Just like Desperate Housewives previews are not part of the show when shown during credit rolls on other ABC shows.
There were footprints all over the beach. If they had all died the beach wouldn’t have had them.
this again proves that the finale was lacking
… and if the plane in the credits was part of the show, it would satisfy you? OK, sir.
People – the credits were rolling on the bottom of the screen! THAT was the end of the show. That’s what will be on the DVD. That’s what the producers aired. Whatever happens on top of the screen while the credits roll, is ALWAYS added by the network. Teasers for next week’s episode, a preview of the show coming up next, preview of the news… thise are all network-generated and have nothing to do with the show you just watched. Like at the end of a movie when the credits are shrunken down and sped up to 10x speed… THAT’s the movie, and the “Coming Up Next on Cold Case” nonsense is just a network shill. Nothing in those previews or teasers is ever official.
I too thought it was just a full circle image and not part of the story. Now if Vincent had gone running across the beach…
