Image Credit: Andrew CooperPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time opened at No. 1 in 18 of the 19 foreign markets it debuted in over the weekend, The Los Angeles Times reports. Its estimated $18 million haul topped that of 2004′s National Treasure, but not 2008′s Iron Man or 2005′s Kingdom of Heaven. Disney noted that unseasonably warm weather in Western Europe may have kept moviegoers away from theaters, but we’re wondering if maybe it was Jake Gyllenhaal’s hair.* As Michael Slezak pointed out, “It looks unnatural on him, a little unhealthy, too.” Our photo editor Connie Yu concurred: “Essentially, he has the same look as Sawyer on Lost, but it just doesn’t work for him. All that facial hair, bushy brows, scruffy beard, and the shaggy hair — it just makes him look unkempt not sexy.”
Is Gyllenhaal’s hair a deterrent to you seeing Prince of Persia? We have until Friday to warm up to it in the States.
* Or the accent?

He looks great
I like the longer hair, and am intrigued by the accent. Hey, it’s called acting. I’m willing to give him a chance with this.
I like his hair, I think it looks good. I’m ready for this movie, I’m a fan of the original game and I love how I can see elements of the game play within the action.
The hair looks fine but difficult to tell if it’s real or extensions. His accent is not 100% believable but for this type of film, it’s fine. I saw the film in London on Saturday and can say the film delivers to its intended audience.
Well, they didn’t have Supercuts in ancient Persia.
A-oh!
Maybe they should’ve hired Josh Holloway…and sorry, Jake, but Josh Holloway is hotter.
jake is just so unappealing in this role to me. I was looking forward to the movie..and i’ll eventually get around to seeing it, but i’m in no rush at all.
I agree with you. I truly do not wish to see the film now either. Jake doesn’t do anything to help it out. I think they should have hired a better looking and more experienced actor. I just don’t find Jake appealing at all or a talented actor. I guess some women like a man who has made their body up for a movie. I prefer to look at men who keep their body looking fantastic 24 hours a day – like Robert Downey Jr, Brad Pitt etc. even without a movie being made. Jake got fit to play a part in a movie. That doesn’t impress me. His acting never truly did impress me either. As for the hair. Yes, I do think it looks stringy and dirty.
I’m not normally a Jake fan, but I like the longer hair. Works for the role.
Not really digging the hair. I still think Orlando Bloom would’ve been the perfect choice.
This is so funny that you are talking about his hair. Everytime my roomate and I see a commercial for this movie on TV, we have taken to calling Jake’s hair a ma-wig (pronwounced muh-wig) as in a male wig. We even got a couple of our friends saying it as well!
first of all his hair is natural, secondly he plays prince of persia so he can’t have short hair or no facial hair..we wouldn’t speak about the same character..anyway Jake is a perfect fit for the role..go and watch the movie..it’s the best of this year till now (with Shutter Island)
his hair looks greasy & gross.
Not even his abs could save that hot mess.
I think he looks yummy.
His hair looks fine, it’s the fact that he’s a white guy playing a Persian that seems odd to me.
I kind of like this look more than normal Jake. I’m interested. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually go see this one in theaters.
