I’m so upset by this news! I’d much rather have this Newt movie (which sounded awesome!) than Cars 2. Much much much rather.
Doesnt mean its offiacally cancelled.After all look how long it took to make WALL-E
I agree that it’s better they take it off the table than crank out a sub-par film. John Lassiter has that “Walt” thing about quality…and I’m so glad! BUT, Walt did not do sequels, you ALL know about not trying to “top pigs with pigs”…but I believe that is Lassiter caving to marketing demands, not necessarily the right things to do.
The reason for Cars 2 is they made an absolute mint-load of money off of merchandising on Cars. All Pixar movies do well in merchandising, but Cars did almost 3 times more than the next closest Pixar movie.
