As EW reported last night, Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk, Chris Pine, is in early negotiations to fill in for Bradley Cooper in the spy buddy comedy This Means War. Holy final frontier, does this news make me happy! Because, as we saw in that whole vaccine scene in Star Trek, the dude is funny. And it’s rare that we get funny and incredibly gorgeous in one nice little package in Hollywood. (Yes, Paul Rudd, you still belong to that club.) Honestly, I see Pine’s comedy career as a natural progression. Now, if he’d record a spoken-word cover of “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds,” I’d be even happier.
Who else wants to give Pine a hand for tackling a starring role in a comedy? And who knew he looked so much like Lee DeWyze in high school? (Random Internet surfing alert!)

Agreed. He was great with the humor in Star Trek.
Yes, Yes and YES! LOVE me some Chris Pine. I am looking forward to anything he is in, but a comedy would be stellar. Hey Hollywood, more Chris Pine please!
If Paul Rudd belongs to the “funny AND incredibly gorgeous club” (and i don’t dispute that at all) then Ryan Reynolds is the president. Though I think that Chris Pine would make a good VP. If this is the movie that I’m thinking of that has Reese Witherspoon too, we should be in for a treat.
A club of Paul Rudd, Chris Pine, and Ryan Reynolds? I need a drink!
Oh and can I take the minutes at their meetings?
Oh, yeah. I think Chris Pine is certainly in the funny and gorgeous club. I can hardly wait to see it!!
He should of been Captain America
Hmm, Weirdly enough I always though Kirk’s dad, Chris Hemsworth should have been Captain America and Kenneth Branagh should have been politely asked to find another Thor: Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd with a little Christopher Reeve style bulking up.
Pine did a lot of decent comedy in the Princess Diaries 2 and Smoking Aces too.
I’ve loved him years before Star Trek was even thought of, so I’m thrilled that he’s finally getting the attention he deserves. This is fantastic news!
UM–YUS. That’s Y-U-S. Man is HAWT and hilarious and smart as heck–
BRING IT ON.
Love Chris too. He does great comedy as well as good drama. Look forward to seeing him in “This Means War”. Agree – he is gorgeous and smart and I so love gorgeous and smart.
