The fine jokesters at CollegeHumor have envisioned an Inglourious Basterds in which Christoph Waltz’ Hans Landa also happens to resemble your eighth-grade grammar teacher. The resulting parody, embedded after the jump, is darn tootin’ cool for a few reasons. First, actor Josh Ruben’s imitation of Waltz is spot on. Second, the clip’s recreation of LaPadite’s farm abode — a setting that received extended play in the movie — is impressive. And third, and most importantly, is the fact that it’s relatively easy to imagine Hans Landa actually having this sort of conversation. The character speaks four languages, for crying out loud, so of course he’d be an actual grammar Nazi too. Oh, if only Landa knew how poorly this movie’s title was spelled…

I wish I could appreciate the parody. As it is, Basterds has been #1 in my Netflix queue since Christmas, and IT IS NOW MAY, lol. I have not yet received the DVD, which is a “very long wait.” Duh. I thought it was funny when I read about the same complaint somewhere during awards season, but this is ridiculous. Whoever in LA is sitting on those rentals, PLEASE RETURN THEM so the rest of us can enjoy the movie!
Brilliant takeoff. I thought I was going to lose bodily function with the gag about the discrepancy between the Chicago and APA rules of style.
winner!
What was the answer? Comma or no comma? This has been bugging me and I thought I would get the answer!!!
