i’m still reeling from what happened in tonight’s episode. i am not sure that i have ever cried that much from a tv show or movie, and that’s saying something. just proves how much i love this show and how much is at stake here at the end.

that said, i thought it was brilliant acting on the part of everyone, and while i still think their reunion was anti-climactic, i think in a tragic sort of way that their unity in death was really beautifully captured.

amazing episode, really. not sure what else to say.

  • Michele

I’m speechless and heartbroken, not only about Jin and Sun (which completely teared my heart out), but with Sayid. This show has always killed off my favorite characters, and Sayid was always a favorite of mine. I really, really, really, really hate Sawyer right now. I have the utmost confidence and faith in Jack, and I always have.

    • Ne Oublie

      my dark prince is gone

    • Patricia

Same here. I always knew Jack was the key.

      • Dan

        No fooling you, PAT!

    • Brian

Had Sayid not run with the bomb, it wouldn’t have gone off, since it would’ve been near Sawyer and Sawyer can’t kill himself.

      • Kate

Why can’t he kill himself? It’s MIB/Fake Locke who can’t kill him, at least not directly.

      • Charles

Sayid “was” a candidate as well. Sawyer technically committed suicide not listening to Jack. FLocke can’t kill them because of some Island rules

      • Bethany

Charles, remember Jack lighting the dynamite? That’s why he said what he said to Sawyer. But if that were true then Sawyer would still be fine because in effect what he did was like lighting the dynamite. I think that bomb was going off no matter what.

      • Tammi

I don’t think it was ever stated that candidates can’t kill themselves. Richard was the only one who has been revealed to have that blessing/curse. I don’t think the bomb’s proximity to Sawyer would have kept it from going off. Now if that would have been Richard Alpert – whole different story. I think Jack was right that Smokey couldn’t kill them though.

      • Bethany

So Tammi are you saying it was Jack’s proximity to Richard that caused the dynamite stick to go out? Because that’s where people are getting the idea that candidates can’t kill themselves. And really Jack was the one who brought the bomb onto the sub. And Widmore the one who set it up on the plane. So that’s why I think the bomb would have gone off anyway.

      • Tammi

Bethany, I think it was Richard’s proximity to the dynamite that caused it to go out. He asked Jacob “to never die” and Jacob granted him that. Richard can’t kill himself, and I don’t think anyone else can kill him, so Jack’s attempt failed.

      • ElCharlito

Flocke said Widmore put the bomb on the plane, but how do we know it wasn’t Richard, Miles and Ben who put it there? Weren’t they going off to do just that?

      • Found

Tammi is right. It was never stated or proven that candidates cannot kill themselves or that everyone touched by Jacob becomes ageless. However, it has been shown that the Island can keep a person alive until it is done with them, i.e. Michael. That being said, we have not been given any clear evidence that had Sawyer let the timer count all the way down, the bomb would not have exploded. I think Jack was going on faith by saying nothing would happen but at the same time I have no reason to believe he was right.

      • Tammi

The only reason I think Jack was right is Smokey keeps being reminded that he can’t kill them. And since he is the one who made the bomb and put it in Jack’s pack, I don’t think the bomb would have killed any of them if it weren’t for Sawyer’s intervention. But Sawyer didn’t have the advantage of having any of the information about the “rules,” so who can blame him for trying to defuse the bomb?

      • ender

everyone in this thread is missing the point no matter which conclusion above is correct ultimately flocke is responsible for their deaths. regardless of what sawyer did trying to disarm the bomb, legally, morally, ethically flocke is still be responsible for their deaths. if i plant a bomb and you die while trying to disarm it i’m still responsible for your death. these writers are terrible and keep creating paradoxes which can’t be explained

      • bnasta12

@ender – The thing is is that the bomb wouldn’t have gone off if Sawyer didn’t pull the wire. FLocke made a faulty bomb that wasn’t going to go off specifically so that one of the candidates would trigger it.

      • ender

@bnasta12 you are not understanding the point without Flocke there is no bomb therefore is responsible for their deaths. If i give you a “fake” bomb but which is real enough to explode if you touch it, i’m still responsible for you death. All i’m saying is these “rules” seem rather complicated and convoluted.

      • Tammi

@Ender: I think you are missing the point of this thread discussion. It isn’t about who is ultimately responsible for their deaths – of course Smokey is – we all know he is the one who put the bomb in Jack’s backpack. Our discussion is about whether that bomb would have went off without Sawyer’s intervention, which I don’t think it would. Sawyer was the loophole in this instance, just as Ben was the loophole in killing Jacob. The “rules” ARE complicated and keep people guessing and interested – it would be damn boring if everyone at home got a printed copy of the rules and how things were going to go down. If you want that watch just about any other drama – they are tidied up and ended in an hour and usually highly predictable. I am glad this show keeps people guessing and thinking. Kudos LOST!

      • zac

i’m gonna go with the candidates can’t intentionally kill themselvesand mib jacob can’t kill them, but accidentally they can dieor be killed by other people. if not they’d be superheroes.

  • joopiter

Totally heartbroken. I was holding it together until Hurley started crying. Then I just lost it. But I’m going to make it clear right now, if Damon & Carlton hurt Hurley, I’m going to hunt them down like Smokey.

    • Kristen

Call me and I’ll go with you. Live together, die alone.

    • JB

That was a wonderful job of acting by Jorge Garcia.

    • Skip182

Same here. When Hurley started crying, so did I. They’d better not harm a hair on his head.

    • Shama

I began to sob when Hurley started to cry. Most emotional episode yet.

    • wildecat

OMG, Hurley crying sent me over the freaking edge! I was wrecked already, but that was just a kick in the gut. Poor sweet Hurley…

    • Monica

Me too. I was sad and horrified, but completely held together until Hurley started to cry. That scene of them crying was just achingly beautiful and heartbreaking.

      • Fenella

i cried when they died, but i thought i was finally done until hurley started crying. that got me going all over again. if darlton kill hurley, i will hate them forever.

      • Rams

Me too. I was weeping when Sayid died and then when Sun/Jin died, but when Hurley cried, I started Bawling! MIB has got to pay for this!

  • DHinOH

I am just completely sad. I think I’ll need a prescription for an anti-depressant by the end of this! I was glad to see Sayiid kind of back to himself and that he got to go out a hero.

    • Tammi

So glad Sayid was redeemed by his discussion with Desmond. Maybe that is why MIB/Smokey wants him dead so badly – he has the ability to undo the evil….

      • Kris10

I agree with this. Smokey realizes that Des sees through the whole charade and doesn’t want him “confusing” the other Losties.

      • Jenna

Just saw your message. Exactly what I wondering. Sayid seemed more like his old self in this episode. Was thinking it was related to his interaction with Desmond.

  • Greg

The series has always treated its characters respectfully, in their loves and in their deaths. Any grief we have about Sun and Jin, and Sayid, we also have for the ending of this remarkable run of storytelling. It’s always dealt in reality–of various kinds–and tonight’s deaths ratify that kind of reality. I appreciate the producers’ take on Sayid: His last choice was for good, and that makes all the difference. Thanks to the creators of the show!

    • Team Darlton

      Well said!

  • Sara

Loved the episode, very sad for Sun and Jin’s daughter. Also, I just kept thinking “They are all very good swimmers.”

    • Kris10

      LOL. True

    • Adam

      Even Hurley.

  • Susan

My biggest problem with these deaths is that now we are left with the four fan faves (in spite of the hatred many seem to feel for Kate). If I would have had to predict the final four, it would be Kate, Jack, Sawyer & Hurley. So it’s just a little predictable for me. But I have to see where this goes.

    • Kyle

Don’t forget Desmond is still alive too!

    • Sydney Bristow

      And Rose and Bernard!

      • wat

really? let’s be real here, when have they ever been important? not likely to happen soon.

    • Lolol

And Richard, Miles, Ben, Lapidus(?), Clair, and FLocke

      • Jacobette

        Lapidus is dead, sorry

  • Lucy

I love this show, but I’m sick of my favourite characters being jerked around. No kidding, the payoff better be worth it.

  • Maddi

WHAT HAPPENED TO LAPIDUS?! Why is no one talking about him?!

    • Dennis

The hatch blasted him the chest forced by the hydraulic pressure of the water. It caved his chest like a heart-punch fromm the Hulk. The didn’t need to show the aftermath, as it would have been to gruesome for prime time TV. Frank’s dead.

      • Mr. Science

        Hydraulic pressure of the water?

  • Jake

INCREDIBLE, that is all I can say. If they had to kill Sun and Jin, they did it right as they were together. I’m at a lose, it needs to be next Tuesday now!

  • Caleigh

How do I feel? To quote the great text of Mystery Science Theater 3000: “DEEP HURTING”

    • Judy

      Love this!

  • lostforever

((((sob))))! i think i’m going to cry ugly just like Hurley when Lost is over.

  • SG

It was a lot to handle in one hour. First Sayid, then Sun and Jin a few minutes later…we’ve come to know and love them over the years, and to have them taken away like that – it hurts! Needing lots of hugs right now….

  • Kristen

Don’t be mad at Sawyer, what he did was supposed to happen. Whatever happened, happened.

    • kimmyskids

exactly. these characters are supposed to be flawed.

    • zac

but i’m thinking he’s gonna be feeling guilty and may finally forgive jack for what happened to juliet.

  • born yesterday

    so sad
