Betty White's 'SNL' promo: She married him!

Maybe I need to get my head out of the most glittery gutter in all the land, but does anyone else think the strapping hunk Betty White “married” in her first Saturday Night Live promo looks exactly like Dancing With the Stars pro Damian Whitewood? Like a blurry-faced, possibly taller version of him? I doubt NBC would stand for the cross-promotion, but I also wouldn’t put it past Betty White to hunt for dust-hungry prey Down Undah. Watch the promo below.  [via Towleroad] READ FULL STORY »

'Piranha 3D' teaser trailer: Jerry O'Connell gets his very own 'Snakes on a Plane'

With the help of Jerry O’Connell (and Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Eli Roth, Ving Rhames, and Richard Dreyfuss, but hello, Jerry O’Connell), director Alex Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) is reimagining 1978′s Piranha in 3D. I guess James Cameron’s 1981 masterpiece, Piranha Part Two: The Spawning just didn’t quite do the trick. After the jump, help me decide which is more thrilling: The Piranha 3D teaser trailer, or a video detailing the creation of a Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant sculpture. READ FULL STORY »

Which artist do you want a 'Glee' episode dedicated to?

GleeImage Credit: Ian Gavan/Getty Images; Rick Odell/Getty ImagesLast week, we watched Madonna get the Glee treatment in April 20′s Madge-ical episode. Then Britney Spears’ manager tweeted his plea to get Spears’ songs performed on the Fox series. And not only has creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed to EW that he’s entertaining the notion of a Spears episode, but he’s also considering one-hour homages to Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, and Courtney Love. But we want to to know who YOU want to hear on Glee, PopWatchers! If it was between these four music superstars, which one would you choose? Maybe you want to see Lea Michele do an a cappella version of Hole’s “Malibu?” Or can you imagine Cory Monteith tackling Billy Joel’s “Piano Man?” Vote below!

Charisma Carpenter on how Cordelia Chase landed her in Stallone's 'Expendables' (and The Butterfinger Defense League)

Charisma-CarptenterImage Credit: Diane Bondareff/ AP ImagesCharisma Carpenter, best known as sharp-tongued Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, is still keeping company with people who could kick your ass. Together with Lou Ferrigno and Erik Estrada (pictured), she’s now a member of The Butterfinger Defense League, a trio that will teach us how to ward off people who want to lay a finger on our Butterfingers. They do this through individual training videos (Carpenter’s alter ego “Sassy” has killer hips) and a group remake of a certain Sir Mix-A-Lot hit (“I Like Big Butterfingers”). Watch her in action after the jump. She also plays Jason Statham’s fiancée in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables, which hits theaters in August. She stopped by my office last week to chat about which episode of Angel she showed Sly to help nab her rolethe joys of working with an army of sassy puppies (that would be the Butterfinger gig), why she’s a cool mom (her son, Donovan, is seven), and what she’d like to do next (Broadway!). 'The Simpsons' gingerly supports 'South Park'

Ha, Ginger-ly. Anyone catch The Simpsons‘ subtle chalkboard shout-out to South Park last night? “Simpsons did it!” So did Jon Stewart. Which show will come out in support of last week’s heavily censored South Park next? It’s gotta be House. A Danish wind turbine will huff and puff and blow the words right onto that white board in between “Lupus?” and a rough sketch of Cuddy’s ass.

'The Last Airbender' trailer makes me want to control water

Categories: Movie Trailers, Movies

M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender is about the lone Avatar who can control all four elements — Air, Water, Earth, and Fire — and his fight to restore balance when the Fire nation gets a little pissy. I’m paraphrasing. Watch the new trailer after the jump and tell me which element you’d want to control. Assuming the ability to encase an enemy in ice as you flip over him is Water (as opposed to Air?), Water has my vote. Plus, I think it will look the coolest in 3-D, assuming Paramount’s post-conversion does, in fact, look cool. What’s your early verdict? READ FULL STORY »

Watch Conan and Jim Carrey play 'Superman' on stage

Jim Carrey joined Conan O’Brien onstage during the Universal City installment of Conan’s “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On TV Tour” Saturday night. The duo sang Five For Fighting’s “Superman (It’s Not Easy),” because, by April 24, 2010, it was about time two comedians did that. Watch a fan-uploaded video of the performance after the jump. It really is like two little kids “playing Superman.”  READ FULL STORY »

'American Idol': What should the Top 6 sing for Shania Twain Week?

American-Idol-Top-6Image Credit: Michael Becker/Fox;Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Image Yee-haw! It’s Shania Twain Week on American Idol. Yet while the dormant country superstar proved to be a fabulous guest judges during the season 9 Chicago audition episode, I can’t help but feel that the show’s remaining six contestants will be navigating a minefield choosing from the pre-approved list of 50 Shania tracks currently streaming at iTunes (and listed after the jump). Past history has already shown us the perils of tackling some of Twain’s campier, uptempo tunes on the Idol stage: In season 5, early front-runner Mandisa got the boot after tanking on “Any Man of Mine,” while season 4 victor Carrie Underwood didn’t exactly have an Idol moment on “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” Which is why I pity the fool who chooses “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and finds him- or herself attempting to pull off the “Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt” spoken-word interlude. (Insert silent shudder here.) If Ken Warwick has any kind of soul, he’ll limit the use of that track (and perhaps “Nah!”) to the results-show group “performance.”

Either way, though, the show must go on. Here’s my dream set-list for Tuesday night. When you’re done reading, suggest your own in the comments below. And to get all my Idol news and commentary, follow me on Twitter @EWMichaelSlezak!

'Batman Live' stage show reportedly in the works

Batman-Mask-of-PhantasmImage Credit: Everett CollectionAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. and DC Comics are plotting a Batman Live touring stage show. The project has yet to be officially announced, but THR‘s sources say it would be “neither a musical nor a Broadway-bound theatrical production but rather an elaborate arena production aimed at kids and families.” This makes it a very different beast from, say, the U2-assisted Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark musical that may or may not hit Broadway this year. THR also says “it’s known that the show will feature numerous villains.” Other than that, details remain scarce. (Warner Bros. declined to comment when asked by EW for confirmation.)

Okay, so that’s not much to go on, but what do you think of this Batman Live idea? Would you check it out if it came through your town? What concept would most appeal to you?
