With the help of Jerry O’Connell (and Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Eli Roth, Ving Rhames, and Richard Dreyfuss, but hello, Jerry O’Connell), director Alex Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) is reimagining 1978′s Piranha in 3D. I guess James Cameron’s 1981 masterpiece, Piranha Part Two: The Spawning just didn’t quite do the trick. After the jump, help me decide which is more thrilling: The Piranha 3D teaser trailer, or a video detailing the creation of a Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant sculpture.

I am REALLY into those waterslides that look like black leather armchairs. They’re in the first clip! And they are the only possible reason these idiots won’t just STAY OUT OF THE WATER. What do you think?

Why is this news? Didn’t everyone see the 3D trailer back in Decmber before Avatar?
The things I do for a crush I developed on Mr. O’Connel a bit over 10 years ago. Let’s see, I’ve watched painfully bad sitcoms, low-rent CG of people Sliding through time, and kangaroos with money. I even watched the Bachelor with his brother, just to get a glimpse of him. And now, piranhas–in 3D, no less. Wow, and sadly, horrible as it looks, I will watch.
…all those actors you mentioned (I especially like the casting of Dreyfuss as a nod to “Jaws”) AND Christopher Lloyd!? Hopefully, they’ll all actually get something to do, and the younger, prettier things will mostly be fish food.
That is way too good a cast for a film like this. Richard Dreyfuss? Elizabeth Shue? Adam Scott? CHRISTOPHER LLOYD? All I remember from the trailer before Avatar was Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls.
The thing is, though, I’m pretty sure the only thing I’ve ever liked that had Jerry O’Connell in it was…Stand By Me.
Isn’t Jessica Szhor in this film? If she wasn’t in the trailer she must have a very small part…
I love Elisabeth Shue…but why, oh why, is she in this? She needs to be in a romantic comedy, pronto.
what happened to Richard Dreyfuss’ career?
+1 for the Piranha Plant. That was awesome-looking.
So bad it might be good after a few beverages…
I like OConnell. Keeps it real…
