Green Day’s new musical, American Idiot, is proving to be one of the biggest hits of the current Broadway season. According to Variety, the show’s positive reviews have boosted its weekly haul at the box office to $777,860 — a 67 percent jump from the previous week. Also strong was the revival of La Cage Aux Folles, starring Kelsey Grammer ($565,424), and The Addams Family, which is toplined by Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth and has earned more mixed reviews ($1,402,725). Other stars raking in dough on the boards include Denzel Washington (his production of August Wilson’s Fences has taken in $732,152 in seven preview shows) and Will & Grace‘s Sean Hayes (whose Promises, Promises has pulled in $912,885).
