Model Naomi Campbell showcased her notorious temper when she abruptly ended her interview with ABC News and took a swipe at their camera after she was asked about an illegal “blood diamond” she allegedly received from accused war criminal Charles Taylor, former president of Liberia. In an unusual story, Campbell finds herself linked to Taylor’s international tribunal, currently taking place at The Hague, because actress Mia Farrow — yes, Mia Farrow — insists that Campbell bragged about the gemstone after they met Taylor on their joint trip to South Africa in 1997. ABC News reports that prosecutors for the UN-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone say Campbell has not cooperated with them in the Taylor case. For her part, Campbell denied ever receiving a diamond before shutting down the interview with ABC.
To be fair to Campbell, she sat with the ABC News reporter to discuss her charity efforts for Haitian relief, so the “blood diamond” questions were sure to be ill received. She was even half polite in disengaging from the interview, but her subsequent departing blow to the camera will surely add to her long list of infamous anger management episodes, even if it does make for fascinating TV viewing.

Hey, she did what she had to do. She asked FOUR TIMES for a subject change – obviously the reporter was either stupid or had a death wish.
Hey, the reporter did what he had to do. She as a HISTORY of throwing violent temper tantrums — obviously she is too stupid to know better or has a jail wish.
I’m not one to ever really defend Naomi, but she was relatively polite in asking the reporter to back off. And then another camera kept filming her after the interview and she batted it away. From the headlines and hoopla I was expecting way worse. Swatting a camera away that is filming you after you left (aka without your consent) is pretty understandable. Celebs do it to paparazzi all the time. This is blown out of proportion.
yeah..cause reporters should just shut up and stop asking questions because a criminal “doesn’t like the subject”
Isn’t it obvious- YOU DON’T F*** WITH NAOMI!- So she’ll pay a fine. She’s still got a lot of money left over.
Yeah the interviewer was clearly being obnoxious but Naomi a grown woman who should be able to control herself.
Fascinating television? For whom exactly? Her behavior is childish at best. Naomi was indeed polite in refusing to respond to what she deemed as uncomfortable. The reporter was rude and relentless, but the camera smashing was uncalled for. Naomi needs to get her boorish anger under control.
I think Miss Campbell was very nice when she explained she was not going to talk about topic. On the other hand, reporter was an irritable person. We understand that she has to bring food to her table, but also she needs to know boundaries and Miss Campbell was very clear by establishing them. It is perfectly understandable her reaction. She must be tired of so much harassment. We should respect each other to avoid a bad reaction. I hope the reporter learned.
Uh, whatever. Charles Taylor is on trial for crimes against humanity. I don’t care if Naomi Campbell only wants to talk about her vanity burnishing project. A simple, direct, public statement completely clearing the question of whether she received a diamond or not, which she has refused to do thus far, would take care of this entire thing. If she did receive a diamond she has a moral obligation to speak out. That this issue is even up for debate is completely stupid.
I wonder if she treats acquaintences as she treats the the camera. She loves what serves her and hates when it suddenly serves no longer. This is nothing to celebrate and she is no celebrtiy.
Naomi Campbell has blood on her hands as surely as if she had personally chopped off the hands of the thousands of Africans who died so wealthy westerners can drape themselves in jewels. There is a special circle in hell for criminals like her, the same sort of people who stood silent and profited from Hitler’s and Stalin’s crimes. She is a pretty face covering a hideous evil. If there is any justice in this world, she will suffer like the thousands of Africans who were killed and mutilated so her powerful friends could make money.
I don’t care what was being spoke of – if Naomi Campbell punched me, I would break her freakin’ nose. Someone needs to hit her back. That’s the only way she’ll chill out.
Amen Seth, she has not face the right person, don;t let her showbiz business get her (A**) beat. She just have not met the right person, Llet her try it n D.C
I agree with her leaving the interview. She was there to be interviewed about something specific. Pushing on other issues was a breach of that.
And @Seth I’m sure as soon as that camera learns to punch it’ll be as big a baby as you.
@ReeRee and hallelujah to yet another big whiny baby.
The interviewer was basically asking that Naomi incriminate herself in a way that would have far greater consequences then that simple interview was worth.. Naomi did say “thats not what i’m her for..” Then the camera wanted to follow her & record a so-called tantrum. Celebrities are allowed anger too. They are allowed privacy. & some of these interviers abuse their rights. i think Naomi handled that in as classy a manner as could be done. Given that she is always taken to court & sued for the least little thing, Naomi should get her monies worth & kick one of them high horses in the ka-bootie. & walk off saying like Chris Rock once said “Now you have a reason not to like me”
I sure would like to see this spoiled broad get her due. Hopefully she’ll get sent to prison for contempt and lying to the courts.
That was uncool of the interviewer to even ask, first of all and then to keep on it after she refused to answer. Shitty TV journalists like this are what make celebrities become stupid and idiotic.
