… It would look like the Robin Hood clip embedded after the jump. Someone’s seen those arrows fly and is working on a mash-up as I’m typing this, I’m sure.
Another treat: a peek at the love-hate relationship between Russell Crowe’s Robin and his Marian, Cate Blanchett. I suspect this film will top the Kevin Costner Robin Hood in every way, but the villain. Alan Rickman ruled as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Alan Rickman rules in everything he does. He’s fantastic.
Amen! I LOVE Alan Rickman!
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was the movie that started my love affair with Alan Rickman. I’ll cut your heart with a spoon!
@JosieG – I am totally with you on this one!! He WAS the absolute best thing about that movie…. “But why a spoon cousin?”….”Because it would hurt more!!!”
Yep when Alan said that I fell in love with him too!
Plus his death scene in that movie was just epic.
Hans Gruber >>>>>>>>>> Sheriff of Nottingham
Me too. Wish he was in more stuff.
here here!!!
Wow, I’m so jazzed about the Alan Rickman love here. Indeed, he was the best thing in RH:POT. Frankly, that movie without Rickman would be unwatchable.
The Sheriff, Hans Gruber, Severus Snape. Yes, Rickman is the king of entertaining villains. OK, as far as Snape, perhaps only appearing to be the villain (but still having the great nasty, pithy one-liners of the other roles).
Not sure about this one. Like Crowe & Ridley Scott, but what I’ve seen so far looks too much like the opening scenes of Gladiator. Hate to say it, but they both might be getting a little lazy if they have to rip off their own work.
I will definately be seeing it. Of course, Russell Crowe could be sitting in a chair reading Dr. Seuss and I would still see it
. I may be alone, but he is still one sexy dude to me!!
There are worse movies they could rip off if that is the case
I swear this is just braveheart.
It looks great to me. And enough with the “it looks too much like Gladiator”. Give Crowe/Scott credit for not resurecting Maximus and giving us Gladiator 2, Gladiator 3 and Gladiator 4 just to make easy cash like so many Hollywood types do.
Pffft. Crowe doesn’t hold a candle to my Viggo – too much ego to play a humble man like Aragorn. Hopefully Robin Hood will be a great time, but let’s not get carried away here.
Sorry but you know nothing about Russell Crowe if you think he’s got an ego.
He played Jimmy Braddock brilliantly in Cinderella Man. I strongly urge you to watch the hat scene there .
And Maximus was a humble man.
Is anyone else tired of seeing more Robin Hood movies? Also I will throw the lot of King Arthur movies into this funeral pire as well. It would be nice if there were an original idea (other than Avatar) that could come out of Hollywood now and then…
There hasn’t been another Robin Hood since 1991.In the meantime there have been two Hulks, five Batmans, 3 Spider Mans and 6 (God help us) Saws.
I think we are due a fresh take on Robin and I’ll be there on opening day.
that’s actually sad that Matthew Macfayden isn’t good as the sheriff of nottingham. I loved him in Pride and Prejudice.
The film will top Costner’s version. Russell Crowe is a very talented actor. He’s the best of his time. I’m seeing the movie the night it comes out! I’m a huge Russell Crowe fan! He’ll play a graet Robin Longstride. The film will be one of the best of 2010. I loved Gladiator. Cate Blanchett will be a beautiful Maid Marian. Putting two Academy Award/Oscar winners on this film was a brilliant idea. Ridley Scott always makes the best movies. I’m a huge Russell Crowe fan! Also, the website is awesome! You can watch all the trailors for the film. I can’t wait for this film to hit theaters!
The new Robin Hood WILL NEVER replace Kevin Costner’s version. That movie is fun, adventurous, and features THE sexiest Robin Hood there ever was or will be. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves RULES.
Someone who saw the movie said it’s not as romantic as Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is and always will be one of my favorite movies. I’m open to seeing a new version and I won’t be making a comparison because the new one wasn’t made to make a comparison, it was made to tell the story in a different way.
the opening sorta sound like gladiators…..i would like to see cate’s bits though, should be pretty cool…..and Alan is the best Shriff ever~
What is with all these Australians starring in massive films? Loving it.
Robin Hood has always been a favorite folk hero of mine and Crowe is a favorite actor, this looks good to me.This movie contains no cliched super hero, flying through the air stuff, thank goodness,
read the book for this film a good tale better than some Best sellers question why is our hero’s father a stonemason? one of the most secret and powerful organisations in the world of the middle ages.
