A reason to tune into Lopez Tonight this evening: Lin Yu Chun, a.k.a. ”Taiwan’s Susan Boyle,” makes his American late-night talk show debut — and sings a duet with William Shatner. Well, it’s more like he belts out the Bonnie Tyler part of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” like he did Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You” on the Taiwanese talent show Super Star Avenue, and Shatner turns the man part into his trademark spoken word. Sneak peek after the jump.
Bonus clip: On Tuesday’s Lopez Tonight, Brendan Fraser introduced his new videogame, Brendan Fraser’s Wii Clap. (Still funny.)

William Shatner and Brendan Fraser. Always representing the part of Canada that isn’t afraid to laugh at itself. Very cool men indeed.
Shatner is certainly a showbiz man…
He’s even among the proposed candidates for Canada’s next governor general, hilarious! http://www.themarknews.com/articles/1326
am I the only one who doesn’t like this kid? There is something about singing in a language that isn’t your natural language that seems like “cheating”. It’s kind of like how most British singers sound American when they sing. He has more talent than I do, I’ll give him that, but all that he is doing is copying what Whitney Houston has already done before. Call me when he sings something sensational in his natural language.
He did sing plenty of mandarin songs. All very much like the singers he chose, and definitely did not sound like Whitney.
LOL. British singers sound American? Oh, no. Different accents just don’t come through as obviously in many kinds of singing. You do understand that they’re not TRYING to sound American, right? (I guess there theoretically could be some who do, but I’d bet you the vast vast majority do NOT.) I have a Southern accent. It does NOT come through when I sing, purely because diction and diphthongs are different when you sing (as opposed to speak). I’d say that rather than an “American” accent, English speakers simply sing with a very similar neutral “accent”. Usually, you can hear British singers pronounce something more Britishy than American-y at some point during the song. I’d imagine that for British people, British singers don’t sound “American”. [However, full disclosure: I am American, not British, and I can't speak with certainty as to what they think. I just found the comment above to be a little too America-centric for my personal taste.]
I’m sure he has sung something in his own language and I am equally sure no one was listening at the time.
Wow. That’s all kinds of retarded. I’m not a fan of this “kid” or his bad taste in pop tunes, but having an axe to grind because he’s getting noticed for singing actual international hits in their original language seems really daft. Would Whitney Houston covers in “his natural language” (as opposed to native… I wasn’t aware language could be natural or unnatural) be more acceptable?
I can tell this young man, by his facial expressions, understands each and every word of the English songs he has come to learn and sing. And if it were not an English renown pop song, then how would so many viewers worldwide notice and comprehend it? He amazed me not by his singing but his overall positive attitude and constant efforts. *This video really made me smile and laugh. Good job! : )
Brendan Fraser is hilarious. Good for him for not shrinking away from that moment. Instead he now OWNS it!!!
William Shatner and Brandon Fraser are too funny!!!! These videos made my day. Thanks I needed that.
Brendan Fraser! So dang cute!
Love this kid~ Keeping singing!! You’re terrific.
