Looks like Ferris Bueller is not too happy about missing school. At least, that’s what it might have looked like had Johnny Depp accepted the lead role in the John Hughes series, which he was offered before Matthew Broderick eventually signed on.
File this under A for Awesome: The good folks over at Moviefone decided to re-imagine movie posters with the images of actors originally offered each film’s starring roles, with help from some nifty computer tricks. Some of my favorites: Will Smith as Neo in The Matrix, Ralph Macchio as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, and Al Pacino and Meg Ryan as Edward and Vivian in Pretty Woman. But where’s John Travolta as Forrest Gump? Julia Roberts as Viola from Shakespeare in Love? Leo DiCaprio as Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights?
Either way, this is cool, no?

Actually Steve, if I remember right, on the box set of BTTF, on the documentary of the making they have a picture of Stoltz as Marty.
Yeah, Fringe recently did an ep set in an alternate reality 1985 where Stolz manages to continue the role and is star when the movie opens.
Love Johnny Depp but, can’t imagine anyone but Matthew Broderick as Ferris. He owned that part and made it one of the greatest movies of all time, in my humble opinion!!!
I love Johhny Depp, believe me, he is my favorite actor and the sexiest man in the universe but Mathew Broderick is the one and only Ferris Buller… I love that movie

Broderick was great as Bueller, but I think Depp would have been good, too. He was actually up for the role, but couldn’t do it because of 21 JS.
