Brittany Snow to star in indie drama, David Beckham to look good on 'The View' (Excess Hollywood)

  • Hairspray‘s Brittany Snow has been tapped for the leading role in 96 Minutes. The independent drama follows two college girls held hostage by high-school-aged hijackers. I’m assuming the title refers to the amount of time the hijacking takes place, and not the time into the movie in which my bladder decides the extra-large Diet Coke from concessions was a bad idea. • David Beckham will join Barbara & Co., on The View this Wednesday to talk about being injured, hot topics, and…oh, who are we kidding? We don’t care about the chit-chat — we just want to look at him. [AP]
  • Director Greg Mottola (Superbad) has been tapped to pen the screenplay for Paramount’s adaptation of Leanne Shapton’s book Important Artifacts. The film will star Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman as two rowdy teens hoping to lose their virginity with a pal named McLovin. Oops, sorry, wrong movie. [THR]
  • Fracture director Gregory Hoblit has helped an untitled Castle Rock drama come together — the director has signed on to helm a film written by Frank Baldwin. [THR]
  • Paul McCartney plans to reissue his post-Beatles catalog through Concord Music Group, and not EMI Group or Tim Urban. [Reuters]
  • Current Dancing With the Stars cast member Pamela Anderson will host Montreal’s Jugs Just for Laughs comedy festival. [THR]
  • Things are looking pretty good for Ugly Americans: Comedy Central announced they have ordered more episodes of the animated series. [THR]

The Just for Laughs festival is amazing (and huge, there’s hundreds of shows and street fair), but that article leaves out the detail that those Galas are lineups with about 8 comics in one show. She’d have a fair amount of time, but it wouldn’t be all her. And there’s 5 or 6 Galas, not just one per year. And hosting one Gala does not mean she’s hosting the entire 2-week bilingual festival that takes over a big section of the Quartier Latin. Like I said, there’s hundreds of shows.

Still would prefer to see the one that Craig Ferguson headlined two years ago, still by far my favorite of those I’ve seen.

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
