'Glee': Madonna gives thumbs up for next week's episode

power-of-madonnaImage Credit: Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com; Michael Yarish/FoxNext Tuesday’s Glee, as Jane Lynch’s shot-by-shot remake of “Vogue” revealed, will be an all-out Madonna extravaganza, featuring such hit songs as “Express Yourself,” “Like a Virgin,” “Like a Prayer,” and “4 Minutes.” In the episode, Mr. Schuester asks the girls in glee club to select various Madonna tracks to sing, and the episode already has one major supporter — the Material Girl herself. “I think Mr. Schuester is very cute,” Madonna said in a statement to Fox, “and I’m glad he’s doing such a good job empowering the girls.” And… that’s all, Madonna? No comment on what you make of the show’s interpretation of your music? No praise for Glee‘s young ensemble cast? And no mention of the pure awesomeness that is Jane Lynch? Grumble, grumble…

Well, maybe Madge is simply going to let the episode speak sing for itself. PopWatchers, how pumped are you to see an hour’s worth of Madonna goodness? And do you think Glee will do justice to the pop star’s catalog, or does the whole tribute run the risk of coming off as hokey?

I am super excited.. Vogue being done by Sue was awesome..although I would had liked more “Sue” in the video not just her pretending to be Madonna. I have high hopes!!!

i’m pumped. i think thats a classic madonna response.

I love her, she does not look old at hookup2night

If that’s all she said, as you seem to be surprised about, then why does the headline say she gives “thumbs up” to the episode? Doesn’t sound like that at all to me… Also sounds like she thinks it’s some sort of reality show and that Mr. Shuester is really a hard-working teacher!

Approval in this case is tacit, Zo. If she doesn’t say she disapproves, she approves.

        Disagree.

I suspect Madonna is psyched for the residuals to start comin’ in from Glee covers of her songs as well as a new, young audience buying her older albums.

Um, maybe Madonna didn’t say more because she hasn’t seen the episode. I think that it will be a really fun episode. The version of Jane Lynch’s “Vogue” that they showed at the end of this week’s episode wasn’t really a “shot-by-shot remake” of Madonna’s video. The song was cut down a bit. The scenes that they did include were indeed impressively crafted, and were very accurate reproductions of the original scenes. But maybe there is a full-length version of Jane Lynch’s video that does include every shot from the original.

      Um, um.

Ummm, as any Madonna fan knows, Madonna’s not good at giving compliments. Being praised and complimented, that’s her forte. But I love her and I love Glee, so it’s a win-win for me. I’m pumped!

Yeah. I agree with you, so glad to Glee return. Although, it really does show how bad American Idol is this season.

Ahh….Madonna. Hopefully, Lady Gaga has a television so she can take more pointers on being more of an originator and less of a female Marilyn Manson by way of Grace Jones love child.

Madonna is a freaking goddess…she doesn’t have to say anything anymore…Love Glee but they should be honored that she gave them access to her entire catalog. After all her backcatolog is nothing short of remarkable and she’s been the soundtrack to a generation.

    tuesday come already!!!

I can’t stand Madonna and have never understood her appeal. She and I are the same age and although I like her music, I don’t like her voice, her articulation, or her. She can’t sing, she can barely dance, and she’s a self-absorbed narcissist. “Glee” could choose a more talented musical geezer to emulate, such as Billy Joel.
