A new clip from A Nightmare on Elm Street called “All I Have To Do Is Dream” (watch after the jump) shows Jackie Earle Haley (as Freddy Krueger) terrorizing Rooney Mara, an actress who looks just like Emily Blunt when she’s scared and half of her face is encased in fiery lighting and the other half in darkness. Am I wrong? Other questions: I’ve never seen an Elm Street — does Freddy run or does he just calmly walk toward his victims? Seems to me she could’ve knocked some crap off the supermarket shelves to make it hard for him to run toward her and then bolted. But I’m guessing, from the close-up of her ripping off a portion of his shirt, that he needed to get close to her so she could do that and wake up from her dream with the piece of clothing in her hand? Am I close?!
More Nightmare on Elm Street: Jackie Earle Haley describes first nerdgasm (and Freddy Krueger’s makeup as ‘total bulls—’)

This looks like it might be decent.
she looks like Felicia Day and Emily Blunt combined…
I feel like she looks like a cross between Emily Blunt and Abigail Breslin.
Yes!
Hmmm we might just MIGHT have a good reboot on our hands! Of course after the crapfest of Clash of the Titans I’m waaaay more cautious so I’ll wait for a few reviews before buying my ticket.
I will admit to feeling a chill down my spine when Freddy scraped his knife fingers afainst the pipe.
We get it Nerwen, you didn’t like Clash of the Titans.
For crikes sakes…
At least it has some REAL actors in it instead of the typical bland MTV rejects.
Awww, Mandi. How sad. You’ve never seen any Elm Street movies. I grew up on those… you’re missing at least 2 good flicks!
original and New Nightmare…Dream Warriors for a close 3rd…but other than that the rest are just fillers
Dream warriors definitely! Dream Master wasn’t ALL bad (aside from the fact that they recast Kristen.. I STILL can’t get over that) – It had some fun parts to it. The rest of the series was pretty crappy, but I own the Box Set, and definitely whip it out from time to time.
Will, you have taste. Those are exactly the order I would put them in as well.
Does Freddy vs. Jason count because I thought that was a decent horror film.
she’s very pretty but i don’t think she looks a whole lot like emily blunt. someone would have to point it out for me to see the resemblance.
I’m excited to see this because Katie Cassidy is in it and I’m a big Melrose Place fan.. unfortunately that will probably get canceled but lucky for Katie, she is uber talented so she’ll do fine!
I know! I love Katie Cassidy too. And she ruled Melrose last night. She’s a major draw for me too, but I also grew up with the films and me and Freddy go way back. Can’t wait for this movie!
Watch the original. This will suck in comparison. Like Michael Bay but come on….
You asked if Freddy ever ran and to be honest, now I think about it, I remember a lot of speed walking or slow walking or just standing to reveal that special glove and then he would be out of frame and then appear by the victim to kill them. Help me out, maybe my brain is thinking Freddy was too cool to run and I’ve blocked those scenes out.
I don’t think he had to run, since it was all in people’s dreams (so the “realism” of whether he could catch up to them or not wasn’t that important) & he could just pop up & surprise people, right? I’ve only seen the 1st one recently so I’m not sure what he does in all of the movies…
He runs a bit at the end of the original “Nightmare” when he’s chasing Nancy.
He didn’t really run cause he didn’t need to. He just teleported around threateningly. Oh, and if you want to watch a Freddy movie, I suggest Freddy vs Jason. It’s camp-tastic.
dont you mean craptastic?>
You seriously dedicated an entire post to the fact that Rooney Mara maybe looks a little like Emily Blunt in one shot of A Nightmare on Elm Street? Slow day at the news office, guys?
haha thats funny!!!! but serously does minus the british accent
Ditto the hot chick from Melrose Place being in this. That pretty much guarantees me going to the theater to see it.
You, journalist of all fail journalists, are the epic fail of journalists. It’s a dream mixing with reality. The reality doesn’t affect the dream. Jesus – is this what EW is hiring now? No wonder I canned my subscription…
Even worse, what head at EW decided to say “You there, have you ever seen a Nightmare film?” “No.” “Sweet. Here is your next article. Ask questions pertaining to the films being that you’re basically retarded when it comes to the mythology of them” “No problem, boss, be right on it, and I’ll as the most retarded of questions.”
Sweet, EW. Now go back to covering what Kate is doing with her clown car of a vagina and leave the movies to magazines that actually care about them.
Holy cow! I just almost peed myself laughing. I told my co-workers that today was Rant Thursday. Thanks for adding to my day ranting on stupid things.
