I may agree he is good but his rendition is a total distortion of the original version just to sound different. This is a clear disrespect for the song composer and the subject singer (Elvis)
I’m old enough to remember Lawdy Miss Clawdy, and I couldn’t even recognize it in Casey’s version.
Although he sang it okay (not great),the song itself was terrible, he did NOT look cool, and I hope he gets his act together — SOON! C’mon, Casey!
Check out YouTube for both Elvis’ and Paul McCartney’s “Lawdy Miss Clawdy!” …. Warning … the song may get stuck in your head! I like it, and I hope if Casey does an album, he includes it!
He needs to get up there and do some Bob Seger– think it would be amazing
I adore Casey- he sounded amazing and although he doesn’t have his show face “down” yet – if you listen to his voice, it’s a sound you could listen to all day long. He’s rock/blues all the way and this song suited him perfectly.
I love him too and it is frustrating that the judges and Slezak are not showing him any love at all.
I think it was a good strategy for this theme, just that Casey didn’t pull it off well. He went back to that cover band vibe, and yes stage placement didn’t help at all. On the other hand, Mike Lynche also picked a lesser known Elvis tune, made it his own, and had a minor Idol moment.
Lesser known? Never wathced South Park, did you? That is all I can hear when I hear that song. Much better than Mike’s performance!
Uh, that was “watched”
One of Taylor Hicks’ best performances on Idol was “In the Ghetto”. Mike’s was very nice but Taylor blew him out of the water. That’s the risk picking a song that’s been performed before on Idol.
Thanks for interviewing Casey, Michael. I think he’s very talented, has a great recording voice and has a lot of potential. Not to compare musical styles and preferences, but I feel like Casey’s being thrown under the bus just like a certain Pocket Idol of your acquaintance. I don’t know if he has the showmanship to win it, but I think Casey’s definitely got the talent to have a nice career doing what he loves.
EW complains that Casey’s song choice isn’t a mega-hit and praises Sourbox for choosing one more obscure. I can’t wait till she sings in the pit with the bots so you can praise THAT. LOL
I love casey and even though he changed the song,it still sounded great to me,more entertaining than most other performances that night. Even without Idols, its obvious the guy is going places cos he is very good and also he looks good. Best of luck to you Casey!!!
I think Casey is the best choice for winning
