Ugly Betty may be ending this week but star America Ferrera has already lined up a new gig: The actress will executive produce Pedro & Maria, a new telenovela for MTV. Ferrara will produce along with Ben Silverman and Quiara Alegria Hudes (In the Heights), who will also write the script. The bilingual romance is described as “the first-ever multicultural, interactive series built for the digital age.” No word on if the titular characters wear braces and/or fugly ponchos.

Sigh. Bye, Betty.
I love the idea of a “choose your own adventure” tv series…but I think they should leave the interactive stuff for either the second half of the first season or leave it to the second season (assuming they get a second season). It might be better to get an audience engaged in the characters’ personalities and motives before letting the audience run away with the show.
either way, it sounds interesting.
She thinks this will make her great again. Go cross the border.
What border? She’s an American. And please don’t make some stupid statement about Mexico, because her family is not from Mexico.
Sounds like an interesting stint. Ugly Betty we’ll miss you! America Ferrera, you made that show great. Good luck to you in your new venture.
Since the new MTV soap opera, “Pedro and Maria” will be airing on MTV in the near future, I hope this cast will be filled with a bunch of newbies, a few veteran actresses and actors, and kind of familiar faces.:)
