President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama taped a segment for Idol Gives Back on Wednesday, according to FoxNews.com. The two-hour American Idol results-show spectacular, which will raise money for Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation, is scheduled to air April 21. While a Fox spokesperson couldn’t confirm the Obama segment, a presidential visit to Idol Gives Back would not be unprecedented; in 2007, then President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush made an appearance to encourage IGB donations, and in 2008, Obama, fellow Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and their Republican presidential rival John McCain all appeared on the telecast. (IGB took a year off in 2009, during Idol‘s eighth season.)
Delighted as I am to see POTUS support for my favorite TV show’s massive charity initiative, I’m hoping we get some insight into Idol voting trends from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The Obamas strike me as a Bowersox kind of household, but I wonder what their text-message bills would reveal. In fact, wouldn’t it be great if all candidates for public office were forced to make public their Idol voting records*? I mean, yeah, I want to know that my elected officials have paid all their taxes, but an ugly night of drunk-dialing for Haley Scarnato or a dalliance with Danny Gokey after his “Dream On” scream might influence my decision inside the voting booth, too. How about you, PopWatchers?

I hope not, and I am a big Magnus fan. Being rushed to put out product as Idol Winner would be bad for her future. The best would be a 3rd or runner-up spot for the gifted Odd One.
Exposure and in all likelihood a producer sponsorhip in music or Broadway. Time to polish her vocals and get an artistic theme to her 1st effort, and develop some of the songs she has written (she, Crystal, and Dywze that I know of have some songwriting/composing work already done).
