Sarah Jessica Parker's artsy Bravo reality series gets a premiere date

sarah-jessica-parkerImage Credit: Barbara Nitke/BravoSarah Jessica Parker’s long-gestating reality competition series for artists, Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, will debut June 9 on Bravo. The Winner gets a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum and $100,000. Magical Elves is producing, so thinking it’ll probably play out just like Project Runway or Top Chef, but for artists.

Are you into this? I’ll definitely give it a shot because it’s a Bravo reality series and I am alive. I’m guessing a lot of its staying power will depend on the contestants. Maybe some of “the characters” should be from Sex and the City — the Pussy Painter, Maria the lesbian Brazilian, the starving performance artist, and obviously Aleksandr Petrovsky. Just kidding; he would totally lose on week 1 and then SJP would “accidentally” slap him.

Any ideas for the art-world version of Heidi’s “You’re out”? I vote for “You’re a virgin who can’t draw.” That was way harsh, Tai.

If we’re going with the SATC artists, we of course must include Thor (the trainer who creatively sculpted his ladyfriends’ lower shrubbery)!!

I am very surprised this isn’t a fashion show. Is she an artist on the side or something? This seems a little out of sorts. She should have done a fashion show but there are so many of those out there. She does have great style though. I mean look at this halston dress she has been wearing everywhere. it is great.

Qoro Fine Art Services tried contacting MagicElves/Bravo to become a sponsor/prize sponsor but no one ever returned our messages. Would have liked to been a part of this and provide the winners with fine art giclees of their artwork.

“You’re a virgin who can’t drive” is my favorite movie insult of all times. Nice reference!

Hope they don’t turn it into Project FART!

Artist John Parot is on this show and his work is extraordinary so it must have serious cred. I saw his show in Chicago and it blew my mind.
