“Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is,” tweeted Iron Man director Jon Favreau yesterday, referring to his upcoming sci-fi action pic that pits cowboys against earth invaders. “Please don’t tell anybody,” he added.
Sorry, Jon. We just can’t keep our big mouth shut.
But here’s our next question: Will Ford play a cowboy or an alien? The obvious route is to slap a 10 gallon hat on the guy and let him loose on some ETs with a six-shooter. But consider the alternative: Ford, wearing some kind of nose- or ear-altering prosthesis and cat-eye contacts, chasing a crowd of cowboys across the plains in a flying saucer. Could be pretty cool, right?

Can’t WAIT. And Harrison Ford could make the experience that much better, especially in the capable hands of Jon Favreau. I LOVE seeing him snag the kind of projects he wants, because we get amazing work from him in return. He went under-appreciated for WAY too long.

I know it seems obvious, but like Alex said, Ford is born to play a cowboy. Not saying he couldn’t pull off an alien, but it seems like that would be merely for shock value.

Well, he’s Han Solo, so the obvious answer is Cowboy. But are they trying to go against type here? If so then I would have to say it’d be interesting to see him be an Alien. Either way I love Harrison Ford.
Harrison Ford plays gritty characters with a gun strapped to his leg or hip in one fashion or another. He wouldn’t be a very good alien. He’s a tough guy and has almost always played the tough guy and it would be very difficult to imagine him in a believable alien performance. If they want the movie to SUCK, make him an ALIEN. But if Jon Favreau was smart, he’d make Ford a cowboy.

Well, for all intended purpose the character of Han Solo was born at the planet Corellia, hence he IS an alien alright, so Mr. Ford has played an alien before. I don’t know details about the C&A movie, but you bet he won’t be playing an alien… again. But has he played any cowboys in the past? I don’t think Bob Falfa qualifies, but the hat looked good on him though…
