Walker/Getty ImageParks and Recreation and Human Giant star Aziz Ansari (or perhaps you know him from his anti-Justin Bieber alter-ego Raaaaaaaandy) is entering negotiations to star in Media Rights Capital’s 30 Minutes or Less, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Minutes is co-produced by Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld and will be director Ruben Fleischer‘s first movie since Zombieland. Ansari will play a junior high history teacher who, along with a pizza-delivery guy, is forced to rob a bank when one of them is strapped to a bomb vest. Danny McBride might be in the movie, too. So far this sounds very Pineapple Express to me and there better be a twist involving Slurpees.
Ansari’s also in June 4′s Get Him to the Greek (trailer), and is rumored to be the host of MTV’s Movie Awards June 6. His next logical step is obviously to drop everything and travel to Egypt and China with Oprah during her Next Chapter. Is the comedian just having his 30 minutes, or is he poised for total media domination?

I’m happy for Azis, but the premise of this movie is morbid and in bad taste–I mean, didn’t this really happen and the pizza guy was killed? Yeah, not thinking good comedy material.

I am a frequent EW reader and i do like Aziz he is a good comedian but i am just annoyed by all these ads for websites to meet singles is there anything ew can do to get rid of them sorry just had to put that out there
the first time i saw aziz was when he had a small yet hilarious role in an episode of flight of the conchords, and ever since then i’ve made it a point to see the stuff he’s in. i hope he makes it big he really deserves it.

Oh my god. I think H.P. is right – minus the history teacher part, this is a true story and the pizza man was killed when the bomb blew him up. What on earth possessed them to make this story into a comedy? I love Ansari, but I hope this doesn’t actually get made, or if it does, that there are significant changes to the story to make it less “inspired by and making light of someone’s actual personal tragedy and death”.
