Wouldn’t Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood be more qualified at this point? They’ve proved themselves through good album sales and longevity. Adam hasn’t reached that level yet. [2]

Why all the hate? sheesh people, you need to relaz. Love him or hate him, Adam Lambert changed up Idol forever with his musical choice, performances and style. He would bring a fresh perspective to this down trodden season, imo. He is there as a peer, not as a long time industry standard. RELAX
Ummmm…Adam Lambert was walking in the footsteps of David Cook. David Cook paved the way and changed American Idol forever. he totally undid the karaoke formula that AI had been operating under. He made an Adam Lambert possible on the American Idol stage.
How lame are you? Actually if you must say who paved the road how about Daughtry did it for Cook? You are an idiot of the highest degree.
Kelly and Carrie are both superstars now their frame of reference are both so far removed from Idol they probably only vaguely remember what it was like.
Not only that the show is an entirely different creature now ESPECIALLY in comparison to Kelly’s season.
Adam was just there last year, played the game very well, and could be of some actual use.
A. It’s all publicity, Kelly and Carrie aren’t as much in the spotlight right now and as someone previously stated, they probably aren’t interested.
B. Adam has significantly more “industry experience” than Kris, as he was a performer long before Idol.
C. What this season’s contestants NEED is a shot of the drama and professionalism that Adam brought to last season. Kris was the winner, yes, but these contestants already have all the nauseating All-American charm that the audience can stand. They need some glamour and sparkle, and there’s no doubt that Glambert can help them with that.
D. Besides which, after the fiasco which was Miley Cyrus “mentoring,” Adam would be a huge step up.

This comment is getting really old. I suspect it’s the Kris Allen fans who are jealous that Adam has had far more sales and success than Kris has so far. And sorry doing a commercial for Ford doesn’t prove success, it proves he can be bought by the corporate douches.
Adam was the most consistent performer last year, never compromised, knew he was-things this years singers don’t have a clue about.
He’s the prefect mentor, and people should really stop being so narrow minded about the idea.
Adam didn’t win because as even some from Arkansas have stated, there was a whole state involved to make sure Kris won. I have nothing against Kris, but this statement from his fans gets tiring. If he was such a legitimate winner why haven’t his fans bought more of his albums? Enough already.
For the same reason that everyone geek out about every little bit of sexuality in his current performances. Different=scary.
But at this point, Idol may as well just give up mid-season if they don’t throw in something to shake up the pot because, dang, these contestants are boring as hell.
Same reason that the wrong people have been voted off over the course of this season – the fact that it is not one person/one vote, and a lot of people vote for reasons that have nothing to do with the best performer.

What a great idea! Adam has an understanding of what it takes to succeed on the show and beyond and has the charisma to relate to the kids he’s helping. And boy, do they need help!
Wow, RELAX people. Adam is a natural choice to mentor, because he has opinions, he know music, he’s great on camera, he’s been there, and he’s totally buzzy right not. This is a POP Culture show. I don’t think they spend too much time holding the hands of idols and trying to make sure it’s fair. This isn’t kindergarten… it’s Television. Adam will bring in ratings, and he will absolutely do a great job!! Can’t wait!

I only watched this dumb pageantry, craptastic show because I happened to catch Adam one evening and he blew me away. Reminds of the best talents in music history. Plenty of yesterday and today’s most successful entertainers not only stand his music but love it.
@Blackirish we all know why Adam didn’t win. But like Sam mentioned, why hasn’t Kris sold more records than Adam? Kris is the lowest selling winner of all time. Don’t you find it funny that while Kris won that his sales don’t reflect that win? Yet Adam sales are that of a winner? MMMMMMMMMMMM.
Just a point but Adam was mentoring Idols last year while on the show. He was instrumental in some of the most memorable performances and not just his own. Adam as a mentor is brilliant and should give the new AI’s a big eye opener about song choice, using the stage and pulling in an audience just not in the studio but the ones looking through the camera. Adam is just starting out as a star but he is making waves everywhere he goes including his cool as a cucumber interview skills.
I think this is great!!! Adam is so incredibly talented and struggled to get into the business for a long time before his stint on Idol. He can give these kids the perspective of a former contestant thrust into superstardom! And the experience is still fresh enough for him not to have forgotten what it was like to be in their shoes. As for Saying it should be Kris… I love Krissifer, so no offense. But Kris has released one single, to Adam’s two, and quite frankly… Adam’s career is turning out to bed much more successful!
