Truth be told, I have always had a love/hate relationship with Showtime’s lesbian soap The L Word. Few series were as tonally bipolar but also totally compelling. I still tuned in for every single season and actually sorta miss the guilty pleasures it provided, particularly Mia Kirshner’s borderline-bizarre portrayal of Jenny. Now Showtime has unveiled the teaser for their new reality version of the series, which debuts June 20th. I. Cannot. Wait. It’s only a short series of clips but, based on the official website, I’m already obsessed with Nikki, who used to be married to a man and came out on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Genius! Now, my only question is who’s gonna turn out to be the Shane of the group, a.k.a. the player? I’m putting money on Whitney, the special effects artist. Take a peek below at the teaser…

Ilene Chaiken caught a lot of flack for making the L-Word almost totally lily-white and upper-middle class, something that doesn’t seem to have changed with this iteration. I’ll still watch, though.

“The L Word” was one of my favorite shows. The writing and direction wasn’t necessarily of the highest caliber, but it always kept me entertained.
The only way this would make me happy is if hidden somewhere on the show was the answer to who killed Jenny.
I think Jenny offed herself as a cry for attention. Who was really sad that Jenny died anyway?

Another reality show. Can someone entertain me with a thought may be write a series. I’ll watch to support the cause but like most reality shows I’ll let it go and move on!
ugh..soo sick of reality tv..esp a lesbian show w a bunch of super fem women..why not ad flavor and show shane/tasha type of women as well..same lesbian producers trying to make more money of a concept thats been done..where have the true artist gone in hollywood??

I was excited about the show’s potential, until I saw that there wasn’t one black lesbian in the cast. Come on! It’s 2010. It’s insulting and I refuse to support this heap of crap that erases blacks and basically celebrates segregation!!!!
