'Resident Evil: Afterlife' trailer: Watch it now!

The first trailer for the new Resident Evil movie — Resident Evil: Afterlife, which stars Milla Jovovich (pictured), Ali Larter, and Wentworth Miller — has turned up online. The clip’s arrival follows its premiere at Wondercon yesterday where director Paul W.S. Anderson recalled how he decided to make the fourth film in 3D after James Cameron showed him footage from Avatar a year ago. Indeed, the Afterlife clip itself boasts that the film was, “Filmed with the James Cameron/Vincent Pace Fusion Camera System.” Snappy!

Anderson also revealed at Wondercon that Afterlife is the priciest entry in the viral-zombie series to date, and certainly the trailer contains some epic-looking elements. Then again, I’ve always had a soft spot for the franchise, whose latest entry is set to hit screens Sept. 10.

What about you? Are you a fan of the Resident Evil movies? The new trailer? Or do you think the franchise is just, well, evil?

I love the Resident Evil video games but have been SORELY disappointed by the last 2 movies. Hopefully they can get it right…

    • Rashad

I love the Resident Evil movies!!! This one is going to be AWESOME!!!!

      • Neil

There should never be a film based on RE4 – it has one of the most ridiculous plots ever, the game is great but the storyline is beyond distracting.

Anyway, this looks good. Nice to see Claire return, but they really should have did something to get Sienna Guillory back. She was perfect as Jill Valentine in Apocalypse.

  • jackson

    it sucked

  • UGH

What? No zombies? How can it be Resident Evil?
I wish they made a true Resident Evil 4 movie based of off the RE4 game.

    • Mike

Resident Evil 4? You mean the first game WITHOUT zombies, do at least a little research genius! The Las Plagas would make a good storyline, if the movies haven’t already convuluted the story already.

      • UGH

        That’s what I meant, douchebag.

      • Shotgunsamurai42

I don’t see how that could possibly have been what you meant. “What? No zombies?” and “I wish they made a true Resident Evil 4 Movie”.

    • carnage

There are zombies in it just not the normal zombies cause they show the zombie opening it’s quad mouth like they had in re5 game.

  • UGH

Never mind. There were some brief zombies in there.

  • Branr

Too much “let’s throw stuff at the screen” in only two minutes of trailer. That’s a bit 80′s 3D; I assumed 3D today would incorporate it into the film, instead of showing “ooh, look what we can do!” REALLY ironic, since I enjoyed the first three films.

    • Tenny

True. It seems that everyone is trying to jump on the AVATAR bandwagon, but nobody seemed to have learned about what exactly made the 3D in Cameron’s blockbuster work: It wasn’t about randomly throwing things at the audience, or how many pointy things we can have sticking at the camera. It was about immersion, about making US feel inside the film.

What the f*** is that. Anderson went crazy. He thought that Alice wasn’t freak enough and now it seems that he decided to turn Claire into something like that as well. Am I wrong or those one who appear in the final of the video are really Alice’s clones!.

  • Pastafarian

    Lame.

  • jose

looks stupid, i remember the games were really intense and scary especially the first one. they really screwed up on this franchise

    • Ellie

Jose called it. These movies are soooo bad. AWFUL. I used to watch my bf for hours playing the RE games and they were ten times better than the crap movies. Please make it stop. STOP RUINING THIS FRANCHISE.

      • Dane

Im sorry I have to disagree. The movies are amazing, why make every movie follow the games? you certainly wouldn’t be wondering “what happens next”. I hate movies that leave no guessing room about whats coming next.

And if you don’t like the movies, don’t watch, buy, or support them, noone is forcing you to do any of these things.

Also if your such an expert on Resident Evil and how it should look and feel for a movie I suggest you start filming, otherwise shut your trap and live with what you’re given.

I have questions can someone please put me out of my misery :) 1) what happened to Jill valentine out of the 2nd movie? I thought her and Alice were great in the movie together 2) what happened to the kid that was in the movies? If anyone could fill me in I would feel at peace and happiness would explode from my brain :)

    • sab

well supposely jill died cause she fell out a window to save chris from wesker and what kid are you talking about?

    • trevon

Jill is actually in this film and that Girl Angela is back 2. and 2 explain claire was captured by Umbrella and they gave her Alices DNA and thats why she Has those abilities now I love this franchise no matter what…

      • ambiie

        Ok first off.

Yes jill valentine is back the actress that played her in the 2nd movie couldnt be in the 3rd due to being involved with another movie but the writers never mentioned her so that she could indeed return in future films which she will ,

Wrong about angela ashford, shes dead. they explained that alice killed her while being control by Dr.Isaacs . so she will NOT be in any more of the movies.

And they never say that claire is injected with alices DNA so thats not proven .

      • ambiie

just because Claire does a back flip off a wall doesn’t mean she has super powers

    • Das Bones

Jill Helped protect a city that was under attack and was ask to stay as its leader, thats where she has been all that time. i would assume the girl too

  • will

if this movie is going to be 90 minutes of slow-mo 3d action shots theeeeeeeeeeeeeennn i quit on this franchise.

  • Jimmy W

actually if you watch the scene in the film when alice runs of a wall and people are chaseing her those are zombies!. and paul said there bringing in old characters and i bet jill is one they may show flash backs on angela and jill.

    • sab

i herd that rebacca chambers is in here

  • Ruben

omg omg omg i CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE, the special effects and the fighting scenes and everything look just sooooooo AMAZING

  • Clifton

…this looks retarded. I am a huge fan of the games, and I can honestly say that this looks like one of the worst video game adaptations ever. Not looking forward to it at all.

    • Mike

Bad movie adaptations, look up Uwe Boll, or Street Fighter2, all I’m sayin

  • bunker

The first one was stupid but kind of entertaining. The second one was DREADFUL in every way possible. I ignored the third and intend to ignore this one as well. This is one of the worst franchises ever.

    • A T

The third one was easily the best. I thought they were all pretty entertaining though. Define worst franchises, ($?)… because I would rather watch any RE movie than Transformers 1 or 2, or Bad Boys 1 or 2, etc..

    • Japanese HIROSHI

Bunker, don’t lose your faith simply for RE II. IMO, RE III is better. Why don’t check it out? You might love it. :)

  • darrin

i’ve always been a fan of “resident evil” period with more of a fondness for the games but at the same time have enjoyed the movies kind of as a seperate thing on its own for the most part. this trailer looks great and i’m pumped for zombies in 3d although i’m tired of the 3d stinct right now but still cool in this case. with another resident evil reboot waiting in the wings i think this will be a good ending to this series of film and having the original writer/director back for the one last fling will help :)
