'Two and a Half Men' without Charlie Sheen: Would you watch?

two-and-a-half-menImage Credit: Greg Gayne/Warner BrosCharlie Sheen could be leaving TV’s top-rated comedy, Two and a Half Men, when his contract expires at the end of this season, People reports. A source told People.com that Sheen wants to exit the CBS show; his rep would only confirm that Sheen’s current deal does expire at the end of this, the sitcom’s seventh season. While our Hollywood Insider blog does some digging, tell us: If this report turns out to be true (and isn’t just a negotiation ploy), would you watch Two and a Half Men without Sheen? I love Jon Cryer, but I don’t think Men can survive without Charlie  — both the actor (who’s been nominated for four Emmys for the role) and the character. It’d be like if someone had split up Alan (James Spader) and Denny (William Shatner) on Boston Legal. The show was good, but it’s the chemistry that made it special.

So that would be … “One and a Half Men”?

    • whatevs

Only if you count Charlie as a whole man.

  • Ed

I’ve seen about three episodes, and I don’t understand its appeal even with Sheen.

    • Todo

Seriously. My aunt and my best friend love it so I don’t knock it when I’m around them, but it’s utter crap. Not funny at all. I don’t get why it gets such great ratings.

I call it one of those “turn off your brain and laugh” sitcoms. They don’t require much from the audience, just the ability to make ha-ha noises. According to Jim and My Wife and Kids are two prime examples.

      • dectiny

wow you MEN are probly just to bizzy whaching football to realy understand why people even like two and a half men and your oppinion does not realy matter expeshily if youv only seen “3 shows”!

  • Nerwen Aldarion

    • kim in kentucky

      hmmmmm, now THAT’S a thought!!!

  • Coopy

This site I bet will be like an Oprah audience during a car giveaway once it’s announced that the show will end because they can’t replace Charlie.

    • Oprah

I have no idea what your comment means.

      • Shotgunsamurai42

It means everyone will be screaming for joy.

  • LOL

Coopy doesn’t use punctuation. No wonder it is so hard to read.

  • bunker

The show is f-ing retarded. The should just cancel it.

  • mikey

If they just ran repeats in the timeslot would anyone notice?

    • AF

I doubt it, they have the same lame sex, old age, fat kid jokes all the time.

  • Al

For sure it’s a negotiation ploy.

  • m-1

One without the other would be like Abbot without Costello. THEY ARE A TEAM. I don’t care about his private life – I like the comedy.

    • llevinso

Yeah, who cares if he beats up women and belongs in jail? Hooray for crappy comedy! Barf.

  • whatevs

What probably happened is that Sheen finally watched his own show while sober and now he wants out.

    • bootsycolumbia

I’d say “this” like those pretentious jacka$$es who say it when they agree with a comment, but I hate that line, so I won’t. But I still love your comment.

  • helno

He needs to beat Chelsea, she’s not his woman, Berta is

  • Darryl Bierly

Shocking news, but Mandi did a nice job with this report !! Love Chasrlie and would hate to see him leave the show.

  • redvector

It’s in that 7 year time frame where shows run out of gas creatively and actors and writers get antsy to work on other projects. But that being said of course it’s a negotiation ploy because Sheen would have no career without this show.

Will CBS show some balls and cut him loose? Probably not. They’ll kiss his psychotic ass and give him anything he wants.
