Image Credit: Marvel EntertainmentThe “motion comic” medium is still pretty new — not quite animation, it aims to bring to life the comic book page in a dynamic way. EW has an exclusive first look at Marvel’s latest foray into the budding format, Iron Man: Extremis, based on the 2006 Iron Man series by comic book legend Warren Ellis (Planetary, The Authority) and artist Adi Granov. Unrelated to the Robert Downey Jr. movie series, this story follows Tony Stark’s battle against a terrorist whose body has been transformed by a new bio-engineered serum called, naturally, Extremis. You can download the first of the six-episode series from iTunes, Zune, and Xbox Live on April 16 for $1.99 — each additional episode will come online every two weeks. (You can watch Marvel’s earlier motion comics, Spider-Woman and Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, for free on Hulu. Note: Like Iron Man: Extremis, they’re intended for mature audiences.)
After the jump, check out the premiere of the full-length trailer for Iron Man: Extremis.

This is not a new story. I was published in print form about 3 years ago.
Which is why the auther wrote ‘…based on the 2006 Iron Man series’. Please read the entire article before commenting.
I read and missed it so kiss my a**!
My apologies to the author but not the d-bag below me.
Actually John, I think the d-bag here is you. It’s not like jcarla was that rude to you, unlike your “kiss my a**” response.
Leaving aside all accusations of d-baggery, this article did at first – at the time John first posted – claim that Extremis was a “new” story. This article has since been corrected, probably in response to John’s comment.
Thank you Fred! I knew I wasn’t going crazy! I read the article and mentioned that it was old story. I am usually not that rude but didn’t like the comment by Jcarla. Now Dusen what I said about Jcarla goes twice for you. With that said I will will watch my tone in the future and show my fellow posters more respect.
Yeah, you do that John.
Funny – EW reviewed the first ‘motion comic’ series back in 2001 (Broken Saints), but people still seem to this that the Watchmen or Batman ones were the first. This ‘new medium’ has been around for 10 years, and began as a 12hr independent epic. Credit where credit is due, friends
i remember watching motion comics in VHS back in the late 80s, early 90s. I remember watching captain america, thor and others…
Whats with the glowing superman crest? lame!
“Whats with the glowing superman crest? lame!”
That’s all you got? They switched a circle to a triangle, and you have to complain about it? Really? There’s just no pleasing some people.
