Bam! We’re down to 11! Or, in other words, after tonight’s not terribly suspenseful American Idol results show, we’re a mere 20 episodes away from naming Kris Allen’s successor. [WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD, west-coast readers!]
Poor, sweet Lacey Brown — suffering the indignity of being the first ejected from the back of the season 9 bus, and then performing to try to win a Judges’ Save that was never gonna happen. (Heck, not even Ellen could pretend that anyone in the bottom three deserved it.) And while it was nice that Lacey didn’t have to repeat “Ruby Tuesday” (the performance that the Idoloonie nation rejected) and instead got to repeat her high watermark (“The Story”), if I’d been in her boots, I’d have demanded Bandzilla play “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and changed up the lyrics (to “make it my own”) as follows:

But hey hey hey, that’s not how it went down. Instead there were tears, there were hugs. Miraculously, there was no lipsynched group number that tore at my soul like a pack of pitchfork-wielding demons presiding over a very bad man in hell. But in its place, there was an awesome educational performance by David Cook that will hopefully help the current crop of wannabes (and that lady with the dancing tee-vees behind her) understand what it means to always take the Idol stage like it could be your last opportunity to perform in front of 25 million people. Rock on with your bad self, Cookie!

Ke$ha is stunningly untalented. I love how every Wednesday elim they show the idol contestents that they should be aspiring to lipsync to unlistenablable not-even-singing garbage. It lends an air of preposterousness to the elimination proceedings.
OMG. that was the worst performance I have seen in a long long long time. Sanjaya included. yeeesh.
I thought I was watching Heidi Montag.

Ke$ha was awful, but on a positive note, David Cook was amazing. There are no guys in this year’s crop that can perform anywhere near his level.

Really disgusting that her single sold 4 million or 6 million copies -I forget which, but 4 or 6 single copies would be too many. How depressing that this is what succeeds in the music industry!
The “singing”? Atrocious.

But the dancing TVs? Oddly hypnotic.

I’m so embarrassed to say my 16 yo son likes Kesha and has DL’d her whole album and says he loves it. I don’t think he ever saw her attempt to sing live, so maybe I should force him to watch last nights fockery on Idol. Heehee I’ll be the Dream crusher.

Sad to see Lacey go home. I would’ve liked to see her in the top 10. Tim and Paige are the ones that really need to go.
How did she get through to begin with? She can barely make it through any song. I cringed when she said she would continue to pursue a career in music.

Kesha is the worst imitation of Lady Gaga I’ve ever seen. David Cook was the only good part of the show – I hope Lee and Casey took notes. Big Mike was an arrogant fool – “this is between me and the people”. Please. THIS person thinks you have a decent voice but you DO look corny. Get over your big self and LISTEN. I’m fine with Lacey going – I would have been fine with any of the bottom 3 actually. No loss.
Cook was the only good performance tonight. Lee can’t hold a candle to what Cook can do. Big Mike continues to be annoying and cheesy. America got the bottom three right, and I think it was the right time for Lacey to go. It makes me wonder why the wrong people were eliminated LAST week!
Lee isn’t trying to be the next David Cook. That’s what the producers want from him.
I am thankful to be a West-coaster, thus the only part of the results show is to see and hear the awesomeness that is David Cook. Yes, I’m still a wee bit obsessed…and with good reason on many levels.

Those on the seats need to take notes from past Idol contestants and winners. David Cook was awesome!!! THAT is how a Rolling Stones song should be done. After seeing the luscious Cookie I wondered why not one contestant had the band out on the stage with them? RS are one of the biggest rock bands….so rock it out. Bottom three were right on. One last thought on that though….Who the heck is voting for Tim “No Top Lip” Urban?!?!?!

Normally, I’d be on that ledge with you, but the fact that David Cook, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen performed together on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series last summer makes your comment well nigh invalid. (As far as the Season 9 contestants are concerned, though, they all SHOULD kiss Cookie’s boots.)

Everything after David Cook’s performance tonight was definitely anti-climatcic, including the results!
David continues to prove why he won Idol with performances like the one that kicked off the show. He’s a talented, relevant artist!

The beginnings of vindication! (Alas, a week too late.) I feel like I’m the bride in Kill Bill, with photos of Lacey, Paige, Katie, Tim, Andrew, and Big Mike tacked up on my wall. I won’t be happy until they’re all X’ed out — vengeance for what they did to Alex, Lilly, and Katelyn. One down!
I feel the same way. I really detest phony baloney Katie Stevens. The only reason why that b%$&^ loves her Grandma so much is that the old hag is too senile to remember how much Katie sucks at singing. Why am I fearful that this could play out like Jasmine Trias Part Deux. I figure the producer will break out the old bat when Katie is in danger of going home keeping this talentless teen around longer than she ever should stayed. In fact, this b%^$& has already outstayed her welcome.
There’s no need to be such a tool about Katie. She’s just a normal teenager – and I mean, in a world of teenage hos, she’s a refreshing change. I think she’s way out of her league in this competition though, but that’s another topic.
Kesha (I refuse to stretch my finger to spell her name with a dollar sign – who does she think she is, Prince?) looks like the poster child for meth labs or heroin. In other words, a mess. Ugh.
OK the girl really needs to leave but there is no reason to talk like that about anybody’s grandmother.
I’m not a Katie fan, and would have no problem with her leaving, but I don’t understand the hate. She’s just a young girl who sings better than probably anyone on this talkback. But why you want to insult her grandmother , who by the way has alzheimers, I just don’t understand that.
Yeah, not a big fan of Katie, but that kind of tasteless and hateful vitriol is even less likeable. It’s just a singing competition.
I think you are being a bit harsh with Katie. Calling her names is rather extreme for a 17 year old who has a nice voice and keeps getting conflicting advice from the judges. Her version of “wild horses” was def her best performance yet, and she is really just figuring out who she is. The bottom 3 was correct, and I was glad to see Lacey and her annoying voice go.

I’m still sad about last week. Now the show is not only lacking talent but *interest*. I’m thisclose to youtubing Siobhan & Crystal each week and following everything else via the EW/Slezak & Cantiello coverage. That’s where the real entertainment lies.
I couldn’t agree more – well said! 2 highlight performers in Siobhan & Crystal. The next best thing being Idolatry coverage says alot about the remaining field of runner ups.

Lacey was never destined to win, but she didn’t deserve the diss from Ryan. They had her and Casey stand up and Ryan talked about the judges and Casey but nothing about Lacey? Just you’re out? That wasn’t right.
Also, why is that everyone who doesn’t make it on AI think that becoming a country singer will solve their pitch and lack of appeal issues?

I kinda think Ryan messed up. Did you notice the bottom of the screen when they had “Lacey’s Family” when they showed the wide view of the stage? I think they meant to show her family while Ryan talked about her review but he screwed up.

If you’d realized though, “Little Lies” was a song that was on Cook’s tour, and he’d been performing that for a while, so even the comparison there to Kris or Adam is a little absurd.

Wouldn’t it be great to an AI Allstars edition? You can have a top 24 of the people who should have gotten farther than they did and we’ve never been able to forget them. Like Jason Castro, Jesse Langseth, Melinda Doolittle, etc.

The only problem with your top 3 rule would be no Elliot Yamin. Totally underappreciated…kinda like Matt Giraud, IMO. And I think Matt Giraud would beat anyone in this current crop of wannabe Idols.
How are they all-stars if they lost? The rules of the show are pretty simple. Get the most votes and you win, and land a record deal. Maybe they should re-do Survivor, Amazing Race, The Bachelor, and every other reality show to allow the LOSERS (I repeat LOSERS) a second chance. Silly idea, they lost! Get over it. If they are talented, they’ll get a record deal anyway.

How were Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia not in the bottom 3 for 4 horrific performances in a row? Oh, yeah, because so many of this year’s crop of contestants suck. I thought Lacey would be a lot harder to get rid of. Now, if getting Andrew Garcia and It’s-the-Katie-Stevens-model-perfect-teenage-wind-up-doll-which-cries-on-cue the well-deserved boot would be so easy.
Garcia is only there now because e’s getting the gangbangers and illegal aliens vote.

Yea…I guess the vote for the worst groug took the night off this week. AI needs to change the voiting rules if they want to keep good contestants and loyal fans….I’m not feeling it anymore. I wish they could have saved Alex but I guess that ship has sailed and hopefully AIs rating will suffer because of it. AI needs a wake-up call.
My nightmare of nightmares almost happen when Cowell almost saved one of the bottom three (Paige) during the very 1st week of the judges save. There are alot of “pretenders’ to be booted before anyone deserves to be brought back by the judges save.
