Agree that Siobhan won the night, with Crystal silver and Didi bronze. But good lord, Andrew, do you have an inkling of how Gimme Shelter should be sung? It’s a protest song, dude.

Siobhan was a lot of fun-crazy in every way but fun. My son does not like the throaty “tone” she has (he is a singer). I didn’t think Aaron sounded that great from our living rooms – maybe the judges heard something we didn’t. Love Casey – he just needs to get a little swagger and quit being so humble – he’s adorable and a great singer!

I agree with Peggy Sue regarding Casey. Extreme good looks without a stage persona are a curse in this context. Adam Lambert also had the matinee idol look but he had the swagger and stage persona that integrated the visual with the audio. As Peggy Sue said, Casey needs to smile more like Elvis did, seduce the audience with a face that is the icing on the cake of his voice. RIght now, his looks are in the glass case of desserts while the voice is the icing tube squirting out dreamy lines. He just needs to not be self-conscious that he is handsome, own it, own the audience, we want him to own us by owning the stage through owning his gifts–looks and talent–as one big package of self-confident attitude like Glambert did. Casey has a totally different schtick but he has the spades in both departments.

I’d say Crystal was about fourth best tonight behind Siabhan, Lee and Didi. Hated Mike tonight. Can’t believe Billboard thinks he is actually going to win this thing.

The beginning of Siobhan’s performance was “Tim Burton does Paint It Black in a Musical.” She’s no Adam Lambert but she is way out of the box, fun to watch.

YUP! I was also thinking Tim Burton. Very intriguing performance!

Siohban has been a favorite of mine, but she definitely is all over the map vocally. It’s only a 2 minute performance and she can be hot and cold. Sometimes she sounds flat to me and that note was interesting. It wasn’t perfect and lasted far too long. I actually laughed a bit. I LOVE her, but she needs to really polish her vocal skills. I found the quiet ending the best part of the performance. I just hope she is more consistent down the line. So has the duel now become Siobhan (Adam) vs Crystal (Kris)? Crystal is doing Crystal which is more than enough. If Simon is looking for Crystal to saunter down red-colored steps and proceed to dance around the stage it ain’t happening. I don’t want it to happen! As I said Crystal knows who she is as an artist. I hope she can maintain who she is over the course of competition, finding and connecting to songs that work for her. As I said, Crystal has shown us who she is as a performer, and she will remain the same no matter the genre. Crystal is still my #1. On a sidenote: I love how she speaks her mind to Simon. She’s very quick, very intelligent, but doesn’t come across rude. I love the girl!

LOL I agree Kimberly..I don’t know if everyone caught her comment to simon right at the end but I did..and it was right on the money and perfectly timed..it’s easy for her to be that way because she is the only one who is not trying to be someone other than who she really is..

      • KlonK

Kinda like Allison last year. They are who they are, and that’s who they’ll be. I love that!

Siobhan and Crystal have separated themselves from the rest of the pack, but a combination of botched high notes (Siobhan) and a nagging feeling of “she doesn’t really want to be here, does she?” (Crystal) bothered me this week.

Tim’s performance, while ridiculous when paired with the lyrics, was at least enjoyable, and Paige was a wonderful surprise compared with what I was expecting after last week. The only performance I really disliked was Lacey’s.

    • Arlene

      I agree about Lacey.

    Siobhan and Crystal ROCKED!
The rest of the night was a Keith Richards drug induced coma and the judges?????? What was that about?
Simon: “It was a bit like in a bar, but in a good way.”
Ellen: ” It was like being at the beach with a drink, but it was great.”

  • JBo

Siobhan is so strange but, so so good, I love it. She killed it. Bowersox, obviously.. great. Lee is starting to become one of my favorites though. He looked terrified but did great. Big Mike is the only one I struggled watching, it was like watching the defensive line of the Giants at a bar doing Karaoke. Tim and Katie just proved they didn’t deserve their spots. The others, eh.

    • as

Big Mike’s dancing (that Kara complimented by the way) looked like he was wearing a loaded baby diaper.
      BAD…very bad.

    • kayk

Big Mike gives me Post-Traumatic Stress flashbacks to Ruben Studdard.

  • Otis

Agree with you that Siohban and Crystal have moved well above the pack and that Didi is moving up in the pecking order. But Siohban is the only one with a WOW moment out of the 12. Most of the performances were good but rather boring and forgettable. My top 5 stay the same… Siohban, Crystal, Big Mike, Didi, Lee with Paige going home. Wouldn’t mind losing Lacy or Tim or Adam either. Hope Andrew and Casey will be around for another 3-4 weeks before they get slammed.

    • Peacemaker

Adam? There’s no Adam in this years competition…

      • nancy

exactly. people should not associate. his name with this season.

      • Jennifer

        I think Otis meant Aaron.

  • susanp

Not even a Keith Richards-sized high could have made some of tonight’s performances bearable.

    • tylermathers

      +1

    • lou

      Right on the nose SusanP!

  • jenna

that was THE WORST version of Wild Horses i have ever heard! judges weren’t critical enough. ugh. byeeee katie!

  • MsDaisy

Crystal was perfection. Siobhan came really close to a Danny Gokey fright scream at the end, but otherwise loved her! Everybody else is just playing for 3rd place.

  • M.A.S.M.A.

Love Siobhan! She’s my new Adam, since I can’t watch Adam this season…the one I look forward to every week!!

  • Donn

I’m glad Simon acknowledged that Crystal is verging on sounding the same week after week and that she needs to push the envelope a little. That being said, I think Siobhan should also be careful getting into a pattern of a haunting performance (Wicked Game, Rising Sun) and alternating that with screeching ones (Think, Paint It Black). The strategy is just too Adam Lambert-esque.

Andrew needs to go. Pronto! Tim Urban needs to drag Katie Stevens away with his fingernails since apparently, wild horses can’t do it.

Yes, I am still not over Tim’s fingernails and “Under My Thumb!”

  • Lizabeth

I went into this night with extremely low expectations, so, ya know, it wasn’t so bad. I actually thought Mike was ok. And I liked Casey. Unfortunately I missed several of the middle performances…Tim, Paige, Lee and, Siobhan. I did get to see Crystal, though. I liked it a lot.

    • awcmon

Lizabeth, too bad you missed the middle performances. Lee and Siobhan were great! Get that DVR to work, lol!
