YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE SIOBHAN. (get it?)

  • Cunegonde

I thought Siobhan brought it home tonight. Her performance of ‘Paint it Black’ has all the colors, daring, drama and the right kind of vocal stamina that makes her the performer to watch out for from weeks on.

    • cheryl

      Loved her shoes, too!

    • Jo

She Rocks and I’m already waiting to see what she’s gonna sing next week. I think a female is gonna win this year

      • Sally in Chicago

Siobhan has the BEST personality; next would be Paige.

  • Broadway Baby

I liked Andrew Garcia – for the first time. He was third on my list – I think the judges must want him to dance with a cartoon cat because he was NOT bad.

Would someone PLEASE just give Katie the sash and tiara already?

    • Rose

ugh. andrew has got to go. now please!

    • pmet

I am so ready for Katie to leave, even though Lacey was worse tonight.

  • Queen Bee

WHY did the judges try to take Crystal down a notch? She filled the room like no one else. UGH. HATE THIS SHOW. WHY DO I WATCH.

    • Sealily

Because there are a few weeks to go!! She is proving to be a sort of one tick pony in my opinion. She is talented, but she is the same..every week. Getting old, already.

      • Lizabeth

I disagree that she is a one trick pony. I think she is consistent in showing us what kind of music we can expect from her, which I appreciate. There have been several seasons where the winner is a good singer and they sing great covers of great songs, but then the show is over and they are totally different. I hate that.

      • Bob saccamanna

they took her down a peg or two because the judges want to create some kind of drama in a show that if they wanted to be really honest..is alrwady over..there is only one true artist in the competition who looks completely comfortable on stage and sings effortlessly…and that’s crystal..and everyone including the judges know it…although I also think siobhan has potential if she would stop trying so ahrd and relax..she has a beautiful voice..after those two it’s take out the garbage time, one at a time

      • say it aint so

Would you expect Melissa Ethridge to “change it up” during a concert…do a R&B song, then a pop/rap, and finish it up with a big band number? Musical artists as a whole, have a defined sound to them and their fans enjoy and come to expect that sound. Why should the idol constestants be forced to be otherwise?

      • mad maggie

Ugh. I’m so tired of hearing that Crystal is boring or a one trick pony. She’s not Lady Gagme, ok? She’s actually talented.

    • jmj

..”she filled the room like no one else”…In your opinion, that is.

      • Bob saccamanna

in my opinion too..every week so far

      • RBlues

Mine as well! Go, Mama Sox!

      • Greg

In my opinion too! That girl Crystal is an artist! I don’t care if she wins or not but I’ll buy her album! Wow I’m blown away by her talent!

      • mad maggie

        Mine too.

    • Arlene

Crystal wasn’t as good as usual tonight. Beside, she looks bothered and fed up, but she is still the best vocal talent in the competition.

  • Dave

I just don’t get Aaron at all. I guess I should just leave the room when he sings, I don’t like his voice or his demeanor.

    • Meg

Definitely… He is the David Archuleta of this season and that is not a compliment coming from me, the only 16-yr old girl who despised Archie with a passion (David Cook FTW)… He is pure fluff. A cute kid who the girls will like without looking at the substance…

      • sarah

whatever you may think of archuleta, his voice was magical. aaron’s voice = not magical. sigh… i miss season 7.

      • Shana

really? I never knew anyone hated Archie .. people either loved him or were indifferent but he was never so off-putting as make people hate

      • Terri

@Shana…you are so naive. I had full-on hate for him.

    • cheryl

agreed…too teeny bopper and I hate the way he moves. So distracting from his singing…or maybe that’s a good thing!

      • Mary

I actually thought he did good this week. He is a little stiff, maybe he should try to dance around, but he did a good job on Angie.

      • cindy

Agree with Mary. People, what’s wrong with being young? Yes, he is not “macho” and he doesn’t have 6 packs abs, but he can sing. BTW, I’m no tweens, I’m almost 40. But I see potentials in Aaron. He has nice voice & he’s improving. He did a nice job on Angie. He may be looks awkward on the stage, that’s probably he is shy (not confidence enough). Just give him a break, will you people? The boy can sing, just need more experience!

    • cindy

What has he done to you Dave? He sang nicely tonight. Nothing wrong being young. He can sing, period. Just need more experience.

  • Lambert_Robbed

I was kind of hoping after Lacey, Katie, Andrew, Paige or Tim that SOMEBODY would mention the fact that they completely robbed Katelyn, Lilly and Alex of their spots in the Top 12…no such luck….these things NEED to be pointed out by the judges…

Atleast Simon revealed Mike’s corny moves to the rest of the world….apparently Randy, Kara and Ellen are mentally unsound.

    • Teri

Dude, they’re gone. None of them had a chance at winning anyway — let them go

    • kay

The contestants didn’t rob those other four, people didn’t vote for them. It isn’t the judges fault or Lacey, Andrew, Paige or Tim’s

      • kaci

THANK YOU! Although I’m not the biggest fan of those who stayed, people who vote need to vote for their favorites. AI doesn’t judge on the best singer – it’s America’s FAVORITE singer. Stop ragging on the contestants and get yourself (and your friends and friends of friends) on the phone to vote for the ones you want.

Obviously, Lacey, Andrew and Tim have their fans who are dedicated to getting them through to the next round.

(PS – my fave is Bowersox. LOVE HER and I called in for her.)

      • Lambert_Robbed

I never said it was the judges fault, I’m just saying they should mention the fact that there were people more deserving to be there in terms of their performances! Those 5 have never really given a performance that’s up to snuff if they want to make it all the way.
Cannon fodder in the Top 12…whyyyy

    • Bill

How’d ya like Crystal’s cool remarks re Lilly (who, w/ Crystal & Siobhan) was one of the best, quirky & wholly original.

      • Mary

I’m probably the only one, but I never liked Lily. I didn’t missed her at all.

      • Arlene

I am not superstitious, but peacock feathers have a reputation for being bad luck.

      • WhiteLady

@Mary, you’re not the only one. Although I must say I found her interesting in the beginning, and then she got tiresome for me.

      • Lambert_Robbed

        i loved it.

  • Jake

Tim Urban wasn’t that bad…I thought Siobhan was one glory note wrapped around a whole lotta crap…this year’s batch is weird

  • Meg

Overall, a fairly average first night… Aaron Kelly blows yet he gets all the judges hype and Katie Stevens butchered the song… Siobhan and Crystal killed it (shocker) as did Casey James (in my opinion), but I must disagree with you, I personally loved Tim Urban’s performance. I don’t think the judges give him enough credit. He’s a mellow artist and I think he knows the direction he’d go in after Idol unlike many contestants… and at least he had originality (take a note Aaron!)… One other thing I noticed was that they gave nearly the same critique to Tim tonight as they did to Kris Allen at the final show last year when he performed “What’s Going On.” Both times they said it was too laid back for the big stage, which aggravates me because there is something to be said for a chill, laid back performance. Tim is no Kris Allen but he deserves more credit than he gets.

P.S. Loved Andrew Garcia’s performance and completely disagreed with the judges.

    • tikiboo

i liked tims arrangement, but his vocals were weak. a stronger vocalist wouldve KILLED with that arrangement.

    • GinaBallerina

Good points all around, and I have to agree, I loved Andrew for the first time. Thought he was awesome, I don’t care what the judges had to say!

      • Mary

I agree, I thought Andrew was a big improvement. I wasn’t feeling Tim’s song. His vocals are to weak and didn’t bring anything to his performance.

    • Pete

Are you sure you weren’t watching the biggest loser on NBC? Your comments don’t match the performances…

  • Sergio

I don’t think Tim Urban was anywhere near as bad as you or the judges make him out to be.

    • Amidala

No, he really wasn’t. They just really seem to dislike him. I’m no fan, but it was actually decent.

  • francis von bonerzhard

andrew garcia is beyond boring and his voice is no match for the song that he attempted to sing and barely gasped out. i’d love for him to beat it and just admit it was a one song fluke. he’s not interesting.

  • Lcam96

Loved Crystal tonight… IMHO One of her best performances to date… Glad the judges are finally giving her some criticism… Don’t want her to turn into Melinda Doolittle this season… Consistently great and praised, but missed out on the finale…:(.. I also enjoyed Siobhan’s dark and quirky take on paint it black, and Didi’s darker but sweet side (very believable – could be this year’s Kris Allen!)… Aaron also held his own tonight as well… And Paige sounds much better sick!

    • cindy

Totally agree with you Lcam96! I think you have the same music taste as mine. I thought all the contestant you mentioned above did a good job. Hope to see Crystal & Siobhan/Didi at the finale.

  • MD

I did not care for Kara’s comments towards Chrystal.
I thought Casey did a nice job – he def picked the right song for him.
Ohh Paige -Paige – why did you pick that song, you gotta sing “dirty” if you pick a raunchy Stones song.
Siobhan – tonight was the first night I really took notice of her.
I don’t think Ruby Tuesday was supposed to be sung with a smile.
Tim Urban you are no Kris Allen or David Cook…………

    • MD

      oops – Crystal!

      • cheryl

Even her “not favorite performance” (per the judges, not me) totally blows the competition away.

    • Kevin C

I’d say Tim Urban’s trying to be the next Jason Castro rather than Kris Allen or David Cook…

      • MD

        he’s not even Jason like

      • mad maggie

Listen to Jason’s Hallelujah, then Tim’s.

        Tim wishes.

  • Kanze

Siobhan’s performance was incredible!!!!! The arrangement was so haunting in the beginning. There were so many layers to the performance and she tore it up every step of the way. I am not sure I’ll be able to get over it anytime soon this week…

    • Sealily

That horrible screech was incredibly bad, but I do like her…kinda.

    • Mia

Yeah, I’m not sure I’ll get over that screeched glory note either. I think, Siobhan is overrated. She’s definitely unique but doesn’t have the chops to really pull it off.

      • Mary

Are you listening to the same performance. She does have the chops. The glory note was a bit much, but the rest of the song was spot on. Best of the night.

      • OriginalAnnie

Mia, I agree. I wonder if those under her spell are spending money on her iTunes songs?

    • Brock

Totally agree, Siobhan killed Paint it, Black. It was by far the most entertaining, polished performance. In my opinion it was the best performance of the entire season, a total game changer. All of her performances have been good.

    • Teena

I thought the “screech” totally worked with the song. I thought it sounded like it wasn’t trying to be a glory note, but more like the emotion of the person slipping away to the dark side.

      • kendra

        no it was gokey revisited

  • Applesauce

lee and casey are de bomb.

    • Mai

My God, Casey is yummy. He could sing like Sanjaya and I’d still like him.

      • WhiteLady

I agree… Although I actually think he did well last night

      • mad maggie

        He IS teh secks.

  • aa

LOL…H to the O to the R to the R to the R to the O to the R… I honestly changed the channel when Urban sings… Siobhan is INSANE I adore her!!!! Crystal and her are the only reason I’m still watching… I’m not even liking Dwyze anymore, all the guys SUCK, especially Michael

    • cheryl

      TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!
