On The View this morning, Barbara Walters said Rielle Hunter, the mistress of former presidential candidate John Edwards, had called her in tears over the suggestive nature of some of the photos accompanying Hunter’s lengthy GQ profile. Hunter told Walters she had screamed for two hours upon seeing photos that show her bare-legged on a bed, wearing only a man’s white dress shirt (“John’s shirt?” quipped Elisabeth Hasselbeck) and a pearl necklace. Hunter told Walters she had trusted the photographer, Mark Seliger, and believed him when he told her “he thought there might be one” usable shot that showed her being sexy.
Now, if Rielle had watched 30 Rock, she’d know that you should never agree to the use of props unless you want to see them again in print. They always use the shots with props!

Oh please. This is a 40-something year old woman, not some underage girl. She knew what she was doing and she knew how the pictures looked, esp since the photographer showed her all the proofs. Please… she wants to be the victim. And no, I wasn’t there, but GQ did release the video of the photoshoot yesterday afternoon. She seemed very please with her photos.

I don’t know about that. One of my best friends has been married five times. I don’t think he has any fantasies of one person forever. I don’t think this is a married/unmarried people issue. I think most married people are very clear there are multiple people in the world for them, but they choose to stay with one. This is why Barbara Walters has no credibility as a journalist. Why does she choose to be the mouthpiece for this woman? She’s acting like she’s reporting because she’s quoting the woman. But it’s not reporting when she doesn’t question her source, or even the sheer common sense of the source. This Hunter person wants to have her cake and eat it too. She chooses to tell all to GQ, a men’s magazine. She chooses to wear a man’s shirt and take off her pants. Then she pretends to be mortified by the results.
