'Curb Your Enthusiasm': Larry David says 'pretty good chance' we'll get more. YES!

Here is possibly the best news I can imagine seeing on a rainy Monday morning: At a recent Curb Your Enthusiasm panel, Reuters reports that Larry David said “I think there’s a pretty good chance” he’ll do another season of his HBO series. “Not definite yet, but we’re working on some stuff,” he added. It’s never a sure thing that LD will decide to keep going with Curb — and if he’d wanted to end on the Costanzan high note of last year’s brilliant season 7, I wouldn’t have blamed him. But this is so much better.

Reuters leads with the fact that David has ruled out any further Seinfeld reunions, which seems fairly obvious. The reunion was one of my favorite arcs on any television program ever, but there’s no need to revisit something he’s nailed so well already. (Did he also rule out any further organ-transplant plotlines?) Otherwise, the potential season 8 is wide open. Are Larry and on-screen wife Cheryl actually together again? Who knows! David did say that the great Leon Black (J.B. Smoove) will “probably” be back, which is just wonderful. The more Leon time we get, the happier I’ll be. I wouldn’t even mind if the next season of Curb resembled Leon Black: How We Dos It, the hypothetical Leon-centric spin-off that Smoove pitched in a Vibe.com Q&A last fall.

What would you like to see on the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm? Bear in mind: Jeff Garlin told the same panel that of all the thousands of plot suggestions strangers have given him, “I’ve never heard one funny one.” Having said that, maybe yours will be the first idea the show takes seriously…

AMAZING. Season 7 was brilliant TV, I look forward to more hilarity from Larry’s brain!

  • S

    yay!

  • Jon

I liked season 7 but disliked the finale. I think the show has one more season in it but should stop after that.

I’ll agree that we cannot have too much Leon Black in our lives. I can still gigle just thinking about the Joe Pepitone jersey episode.

Great News! I think Larry David is a genius and Curb is one of his best and my favorite.

Last season was brilliant, especially the “Table Read” episode, which is one of the funniest episodes of any comedy show, ever. I wouldn’t have blamed him for going out on a high but I am excited to see new episodes. A mediocre ‘Curb’ episode is still better than virtually anything else on TV.

No suggestions from me. I’m happy to concede that any ideas Larry David comes up with are likely to be more brilliant than my own — and, frankly, those posted by anyone else in this forum! :-D

I think Larry should become the head of a charity as another ploy to get Cheryl back. The season could lead up to the charity’s fist large event, that might be funny.

As long as we get one or two good lines per episode from Funkhouser any story arc can be great.

    • Kathy

      Agree re more Funkhouser!

  • Ben

Maybe they can get Steinbrenner to cameo and chase Larry around with a bat for making fun of him for all those years on Seinfeld.

Kill Ted Danson. No really. Think about it: Danson disappears and is presumed dead. They have a funeral and for whatever reason it turns out that Larry is the prime suspect in his disappearance since there’s been such a rivalry over the years between the two. They’ve built it up so well over the past few seasons that this would make for the ultimate pay off.

I definitely want to see more Curb, but I have to admit that last year’s season finale would have been a great series finale. I think it will be tough for them to top that.

However, I think this idea of killing off Ted Danson could be great.

I’ll be happy as long as we get more Leon, Funkhouser, and Ted Danson.

give us as much leon black as possible.

  • jim Stalker

I am still holding out for the Jerry/Larry desk to desk show where they just jab at each other trying to make the other laugh. Those were the best moments of last season.

    Cheers Reunion! LOL
