Horatio Sanz and Chris Parnell heading to Comedy Central: Yay, or double yay?

Sanz-and-ParnellImage Credit: Anthony G. Moore/PR Photos; PRN/PR PhotosPerennial sidekicks Horatio Sanz and Chris Parnell have been relegated, yet again, into sidekick territory, this time at the right hand of Jon Heder. In what godless universe is Napoleon Dynamite funnier than Dr. Spaceman?

The upcoming unnamed Comedy Central series stars Heder as “a man chasing big dreams — even as he loses his job and moves back in with his parents. Sanz will play one of his pals, an ex-convict, with Parnell as another friend, a burned-out teacher,” according to Variety. Along with the S— My Dad Says sitcom, it looks like moving-back-home is the trendy comedy genre this season! Sad trombone.

Griping aside, I’m totally looking forward to this show: neither Parnell nor Sanz has had the post-SNL career they deserved, and as dude comedies go, it’s tough to do better than producers Adam McKay and Will Ferrell.

Are you excited to see Horatio Sanz and Chris Parnell back in action, PopWatchers?

YESSSS sanz is decent but chris parnell is a comedy god…spacemen is incredible and he owns that character to the point where i read the name and pronounced it correctly in my head. however, i fear jon heder may ruin the show

I still can’t get over how different Horation Sanz looks.

And I agree that Parnell particularly is an untapped comedy source – he should be doing more than appearing on every fifth episode of “30 Rock” and killing.

YAYYYYYY for Chris Parnell getting his own show! But I still hope he’ll appear in 30 Rock occasionally. Every line he says on that show is instantly a classic.

Awesome — I’m very excited to see Parnell and Sanz get a regular gig! Jon Heder, not really.

I think Parnell was one of the funnier, more reliable SNL cast members of the last 10 years. The way he was let go and then hired back before being let go again was a mess. I’m glad to see he’s being given some face time on television beyond the odd cameo here and there.

So long as it’s not a live show. How many SNL skits did Sanz break-up during? He’s gotta have the record right?

i know right? and i think chris parnell never broke scene, or else he had a very long record.

    THAT is Horatio Sanz?!? Nice!!

Horatio Sanz has NEVER been funny!

They used to pair him up with Jimmy Fallon in all of his skits so that people would think the very unfunny Sanz was funny.

Horatio Sanz has NEVER been even remotely funny (and yet he had the gall to giggle-smirk-and-laugh THROUGHOUT EVERY skit SNL was stupid enough to allow him to be a part of — thus, totally ruining it).

He should have been an insurance salesman.

Comedy is / was NOT his forte!

I KNOW HORATIO SANZ PERSONALLY WHEN HE LIVED IN CHICAGO, HE IS A GREAT AND FUNNY PERSON. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM ON TV AGAIN. YOU GO HORATIO!!!!
