@Michelle, Of course he had the potential to win!! As I was watching his performance on Ellen, the judges criticism that everyone replayed the day after his elimination started running through my head. Didn’t Randy take issue with the song, saying he felt he could have done more with it. And then Kara made this big speech, saying something like, He was the only thing standing in way of him winning, that she wanted just an acoustic guitar and him singing, and being himself, vulnerability, or something like that?? & Randy chimed in yeah that would have been better! Well, isn’t that exactly what he said, he wanted to do, and I just saw him do with the Mario song? (a song he was more more comfortable with, did more with it, just an acoustic guitar and him singing, being himself?)So who was REALLY standing in the way of him winning, himself or an Idol producer? The Judges own criticism of his performance is the strongest case that he would have advanced and could have won, had this producer not persuaded him to do Trouble by telling him he would get more votes if he did, as well as for his return.. Hey Slezak where’s that blog post?? Call for the producers head on plate for cheating us out of a much more interesting season 9, and seeing Alex wipe the floor with Tim with the “let Me Love You” tune that woulda taken Tims tweens!!

Siobhan and Crystal are both overrated. This is the worst Top 12 on Idol since Carrie Underwood’s season.

Tim Urban is this season’s Sanjaya. He just keeps getting through each week no matter how bad he is. It’s time for him to go home! He definitely took Alex Lambert’s rightful place!

It seems to me that YOU OVER LOOKED Todrick Hall’s elimination! He alone had more stage presence, vocal ability, and talent than all of the three u mentioned, Alex, Lilly, Katelyn. And the ouster of Haeley Vaughns refreshing presence and talent! Duh! And I bet u forget to mention Randy Jackson in ur articles two as a 9 year seasoned musician and Veteran on American Idol! What’s your problem honey! Brown sugar is good, and brown rice is better than white rice too!

Given the following two facts, it is pretty indisputable that flaws in the American Idol voting system led to Alex’s elimination.

    These are:

    1) Alex Lambert’s busy percent (the percentage of people who received a busy signal when trying to vote) on the night of elimination was 5.2%, according to DialIdol.

This was much, much higher than the busy percent of all the other contestants (the male with the second highest busy percent was Michael Lynch, with 2.8% – nearly half Alex’s).

A high busy percent is usually an indication that the performer is doing very well in the voting procedure. Indeed, high busy percentages as determined by DialIdol have predicted many previous American Idol winners.

For all the percentages that week, see:
    http://www.dialidol.com/asp/predictions/Predictions.asp?week=16&sort=TD&type=percent&season=9

    2) A university study conducted by an assistant professor of mathematics and statistics has revealed that geography (i.e., the state the performer is from) plays a huge role in how many votes the performer receives.

Quote: “The phone-voting procedure weighs against populous states in the Eastern and Central time zones. A fan (in these zones) voting 1,000 times for his chosen favourite will get a busy signal at least 50 per cent of the time, meaning only 500 of those votes will count toward the final result. A similarly obsessive fan voting in a less populous state in the Mountain time zone is only likely to get a busy signal five per cent of the time, which means 950 of that fan’s votes will count.”

In other words, in states/areas with a large population (such as Alex’s home state of Texas) the area’s phone network has to deal with many more calls than the phone networks in less populated areas. Thus, many fans were not able to cast their votes because the phone lines from Alex’s home state (his largest voting base) were overloaded.

To read more about the study, see: http://www.canada.com/entertainment/Some voters count more than others Capturing American Idol crown takes more than vocal ability Cowell approval university study/2702911/story.html

Conclusion: More people tried to vote for Alex Lambert than for any other contestant, but were not able to cast their votes because the American Idol voting system is flawed.

They need to bring Alex back. The petition on change.org to bring him back on AI has almost reached 18,000 signatures. Obviously there’s something special about this guy and FOX and those so called judges need to pay attention. Guess they don’t know real talent when it’s staring them in the face. They are as just superficial and egotistical people pretending to know who’s got talent.

There is no talent of Idol this year-All below level-I am so bored by it this year-Whoever wins is not going to make tons of money-I also hope they get a judge like Victoria Beckham-She added more truth and fact to the table. I love Ellen but she is boring on this show-And I do not miss Paula at all by the way (oh and I like Paula jsut not as a crazy Idol judge)-Ryan is acting like a jerk more than ever this year-Without Simon it will be boring and what is up with him this year-He is so low keyed-Maybe becasue he cannot be honest with the fact that there is absolutely NO TALENT this year-

Get rid of Ellen and Kara. Neither offers much credible advice. Simon sees the writing on the wall and knows it’s time to go. All good things must come to and end. This show has about 3 seasons left before it gets really bad.

Season 9 is dying a slow death.I have never been so BORED watching AI before. The best part of the season so far has been David Cook’s appearence.
