'Eclipse' trailer tease!

The full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will debut online Friday at 9 a.m. ET, but today, we’ve got a 10-second tease. And that is just enough time for Edward and Jacob to sound like stalkers if taken out of context (Edward: “I know the consequences of this choice you’re making”; Jacob: “I’m gonna fight for you until your heart stops beating”) and for us to get a shirtless shot of Taylor Lautner.

What do you think? I’m slightly horrified that I noted and appreciated the continuity of Bella’s bed comforter.

It’s not long enough for me to make an informed decision. But Rob and Kristen are hot. And the trees are cool. :P

    • Ambient Lite

The whole thing was hot, I think I even heard the trees sizzlin’!

      • Heather2

I’m sick of shirtless Taylor. Seriously sick of seeing him without clothes. But this is a franchise just for teenage girls right? lol
Rob and Kristen are hot though and the cinematography is beautiful.

      • Ambient Lite

Heather, that is too weird – who could be sick of looking at that? I’m not even Team Puppy Chow, but I can appreciate that body (of course, I didn’t notice until his birthday last month). ha

      • Heather2

Oh of course. LOL Hey, Taylor is hot, I am taking nothing away from the stud muffin, but that is all they throw at us. There is more to Jacob then just being shirtless all the time. That is all I am saying.

      • Sam I.

@Heather2: Have you read the books? The reality is that Jacob IS in fact shirtless the majority of the time. The boy doesn’t even wear underwear! Or shoes! He needs to be able to strip easily enough to change quickly. So as sick of it as you may be, it is true to the story.

      • Heather2

Yes, Sam. I have read the books multiple times. I am fully aware of the storyline, but you have to admit that it is being shoved down our throats just a teeny bit.

      • Steph

Read the books heather…there’s a reason he’s shirtless.

      • Heather2

You guys are completely missing my point. So nevermind. :)

      • @Sam

        Re: Jacob’s lack of underwear
        Here’s hoping Kristen doesn’t either!

    • James

      Hooray for mediocrity!

    • ann

Kristen is hot – but Rob is still looking a little too blue/purpleish. I mean, I get that he’s a dead vampire, but really? Blue? Let’s just go with super pale and call it good please.

  • Ambient Lite

Wheeee! I loved it! Can’t wait – 111 days to go!

    • Donna

You need to go out on a date.

      • Heather2

That would be tough since she is married. haha

      • Ambient Lite

Yeah, Donna – I’m married, every night is a date. So shut up and go feed your cats.

      • Donna

Wow, I meant that in jest. And just because you are married, does not mean you cannot go out on dates. So touchy! Everyone is so tense these days!

      • Ambient Lite

Fair enough, Donna. But there wasn’t anything in your comment that made me think you were having fun with us, seemed more mean-spirited.

      • Donna

You’re right. You can’t write inflection. Maybe I should’ve put a little emoticon or something. Anyhoo, didn’t mean to be mean-spirited. Us gals have got to stick together! Otherwise, the gays will have the last word!

        Kidding!

    • Linda L

I can’t wait either. Eclipse was my favorite of the series and I hope the movie does it justice.

    • angel5

omg omg omg omg omgomg omg omg omgomg omg i freaking cant wait eclipse eclipse eclipse eslipse ih ve six of my friends who cant wait omg omg love twilight.

  • Karl

    *sniff sniff*
It will smell like somebody opened a can of tuna in here before long….

    • Ambient Lite

I didn’t realize your mother would be joining us today, Karl.

    • Heather2

Are we that predictable? I guess we are.

    • Dale

Wow, I thought it was impossible, but Karl, you stoopid sonofagun, you’ve out Nshi’d Nshi.
Who knew Team Stupid had such a deep bench.

  • Elizabeth

I think that’s one of my all-time favorite lines from Jacob: good job trailer editor peeps!

And Karl… you stay classy! Tool…

    • Karl

      “meow”

      • Claws

“Meow,” Karl? Sounds like somebody wishes he had some tuna to smell.
        Yay for MEADOW scene!

      • Elizabeth

Who made the initial disgusting comment?

    • Karl

      I did!
      My parents are so proud!

  • Kim

    Needs more Edward!

  • Sia

I love anything Twilight. I’ll probably be disappointed with this movie like the others BUT I’VE COME to just appreciate them as extra fun. And yes Eclipse is my favorite book and they’ll butcher it BUT it would of been any studio. I’LL HAVE FUN AND I won’t take it seriously BECAUSE I HAVE THE BOOKS !
HATERS KEEP TALKING CRAP ABOUT US it just keeps up more popular and relevant THANK YOU !

    • green_eyed1

I agree 100% !!! The movies have been butchered VS the books, but to me the films are improving along the way, I hoe eclipse far surpasses full moon. We need more intimate scenes with edward and bella…I just hope the tent scene where jacob has to warm her up from freezing to death while edward is forced to sit there and take it is not cut! LOL that should ROCK IMO

    • Catherine

Right on Sia! Eclipse is also my favorite book but I don’t really care how it comes up on the screen. All you have to do is sit back, WATCH and not think for about two hours. Thanks Twilight for sheer easy entertainment!

    • Maire

and this is exactly the problem.
too many people care about these books for Summit to take advantage of you like they are by creating any old crap.
is that really how you want to be treated as a consumer of a product??? you’re the poster child for big business uh…you’ll take anything you can get even if you know its no good. and believe me, Summit can’t wait to get there hands on your money.
as a fan, you deserve and should expect more.

      • sam

Why should there be a great expectation? Dont get me wrong, I love the series, but lets face it, it isnt the next Citizen Kane. To expect more than mediocre, at best is foolish. I agree with Catherine. To sit back, relax and not think would be nice!

      • Heather2

Sam, I completely disagree with you. No, Twilight is not Citizen Kane, but it is not Gigli either. The books are by far superior and more engaging than the movies. I feel more and relate more to the books. Why can’t I have that with the movies? I, as a fan, demand and hope for something better than the shlock that was the first two films. The dialogue from the books have not even been used. It it ridiculous. And just because Twilight is not Shakespeare does not mean that we should SETTLE for crap.

      • Elizabeth

Wow – you got that in a 10 second clip. You’re wasting your wisdom on simple folk like us who enjoyed the books and the movies.

If it weren’t for us simpletons, then I doubt Summit would’ve had the change to distribute the Oscar winner this year…

      • Heather2

Elizabeth, are you talking to me? Because I was talking about the first two movies, not the 10 second clip.

      • Rachel

The movies will never live up to everybodys expectations, and a lot of people are expecting way too much. I think all things considered the movies have all been great in their way. You can’t blame Summit or Melissa Rosenberg for everything. Everyone refuses to put blame on the actors, they frequently change lines because they aren’t “feeling” it or whatever. Enjoy the movies for what they are, they will never be the books

  • crispy

I guess I have never seen Taylor Lautner speak until the other night watching the Oscars, and I hate to tell you ladies this, but he is gay. My gaydar was off the chart.

    • Charlotte

Aren’t most attractive Hollywood actors? I thought that was a given. Still, I can appreciate the view.

      • crispy

Good point. And the view’s just alright for me. Still way too young! :)

      • crispy’s guardian

        Sir crispy -
I do appreciate how full-on gay you are. Embrace it! Hold on to your gayness like a fat man to the last hot dog on the 4th.

      • crispy

LOL! Oddly, gay stuff only comes up in the Twilight threads.

      • crispy’s guardian

That is so true. Most of my gay friends (I’m a straight woman), love Twilight. I don’t understand it. Shirley, there’s better love stories out there.

      • crispy

        Wait, you’re a woman?!

      • Madd

Same here, crispy’s guardian! My gay friends go on about Twilight for days on end. They MADE me read all four books before I was allowed to judge it.

      • crispy’s guardian

        Yep. But i’m hella tuff!

      • crispy

Perfect. You may continue serving as my guardian.

      • Charlotte

That’s exactly what happened to me Madd. Had absolutely no desire to read or watch the movies until my gay friend described New Moon and made me howl with laughter.

    • Jennifer

You know what is so funny about you saying that is I just read that Sean Hayes came out publicly and I thought he (Sean) was already out well before he was on Will & Grace.

    • Ambient Lite

That’s possible, and there have been rumors – but does it really matter? I mean, I don’t think he and I were going to hook up anyway. Not because he wouldn’t go out with me – oh, he would – but because I’m married. heh
I have crushes on oodles of gay men, doesn’t matter to me (and I would guess it doesn’t matter to them either).

      • crispy

Yeh, but you’re more sensible than most Twi-fans!
BTW, I heard that in New Moon (still haven’t seen it) they play up a gay angle… some scene where Jacob tells Bella “I was born this way.”

      • Ambient Lite

You are SUCH a chicken, waiting until you can pull the drapes and watch it secretly at home.
But yeah, maybe that IS what he meant, and Bella’s too self-obsessed to realize her friend is trying to come out and needs her support. And it would be better than him hooking up with Renesmee too! I’m already playing matchmaker for gay Jacob…I’m going to go with Embry.

      • crispy

I swear I’m gonna Netflix it… as soon as I get thru all the Oscar movies.
Hey, there’s this new viral video series on Youtube called Sassy Gay Friend. Do a search for it… I would embed it but we’re totally off-topic at this point. They re-imagine how Shakespeare’s tragic heroines would have fared if they had a sassy gay friend. I have been begging them to do Twilight. Bella Swan could have really used a sassy gay friend.

      • Heather2

Crispy, you still haven’t seen NM? I am dying laughing.

      • Ambient Lite

Hilarious, loved the Romeo and Juliet one. “Desperate, desperate, I am really desperate. You’re 14 and you just took a roofie from a priest.”
And now I have a crush on the sassy gay friend guy. ;)

      • crispy

That roofie line is my favorite! I really hope they expand this series beyond Shakespeare.

      • Madd

They have more Sassy Gay Friend videos?! I only saw the one with Hamlet’s Ophelia, and it was perfect. “This is Hamlet we’re talking about. HAM. LET.” I also have crushes on practically every gay actor (and I WORK with the hottest gay actors on Broadway), and it’s good because it makes me feel less guilty, especially since I’m getting married in less then three weeks.

      • crispy

Yay, another Sassy Gay Friend fan! Madd, they’re doing Romeo and Juliet in the new one.

      • Madd

crispy, I just watched it (Yay for lunch breaks!). I especially love the end. And his scarf! My friend Rachel has a huge crush on him.

      • Sassy Puppy

Also look for Sassy Gay Puppy! It’s super funny!

I think that this is a tease in every sense of the word!! I can not wait till 9 am Friday! My inner 13 year old is squealing with delight!

  • Heather2

I guess my whole issue is this. Summit only panders to the teenage audience, this is really clear now. They keep talking action, action, action, but then we get this. Teenagers are fickle and are not nearly as invested in Twilight and the books as the older audience, which would include me. How do you want to get people in the seats Summit? By showing shirtless Taylor and teenage angst, AGAIN? Did you not see what happened with NM? Eclipse is arguably one of the better books in the series and has a lot of action to work with. Use that. This does not psych me up one bit. Maybe the trailer tomorrow will be, but I feel like I have seen all of this before over and over. Let’s move forward, not back.

    • Charlotte

Didn’t New Moon make more money than Twilight?

      • Heather2

Yeah, but the majority was made opening weekend. Then well the rest is history.

    • TheObserver

They’re cashing in on this and in the process sacrificing the story. The editing worries me because David Slade is kick ass and the fact that they brought in the editor from twilight makes me think that Slades style isn’t gonna be so apparant in Eclipse……

Having said all that; in the even that Taylor Lautner may be gay, I’d like to start a petition to turn him straight. I think if we get enough women abaord this is possible

      • Heather2

Hahahahaha. Oh goodness. I have a lot of Team Jacob ladies that I don’t want to offend, so I will still mum on the Taydog being gay topic.
This movie definitely concerns me on a lot of levels and the whole editor debacle did not help matters. This is not long enough for me to judge, but I do not like the whole angle they are already spinning.

    • Hmmm…

When you say “invested” what do you mean exactly?
And if I’m not mistaken, the little werewolf boy DOES have his shirt off in pretty much the whole book. There is NO action, except for a poorly written fight between the red head and sparkle boy. The so-called battle takes place off-screen. I’m sure it will be in the movie, but I thoroughly doubt it will be remotely impressive considering the main thing twilight fans want to see IS the romance and the shirtless boys. That’s all they care about, because that’s what the books are about.

  • green_eyed1

Loved this teaser BTW….will be loggin on friday to get the fully released trailer! OMG I cant wait! Never has a book series and its film has had me like this!! :) LOL

    • boulderpa

I’ve been obsessed with all things twilight for about 6 weeks. Before that I must have been hiding under a rock (oh no, wait, just being a working Mom of three and domestic goddess) and now I can’t move on. My stack of unread books just keeps getting bigger and I’m stuck in a loop of reading and rereading the series and watching the original, waiting for new moon since I missed it at the theater. Midnight Sun is haunting me because I need it to be finished. How do I escape from this madness and go back to the simple woman I was pre-Cullen?

      • ka@

sorry…I too am a mother of 3 and self professed domestic goddess and I have to tell ya it doesn’t get any better. The Twilight vamps and wolves are never far from my thoughts, which seems silly to a lot of people, but there is just something haunting about the story of Bella. Good luck to ya though-Ive just chosen to enjoy it as one of my guilty pleasures!

  • Jase

Oh dear god – her wig!
Ummm yea. I feel like all these kids act well OUTSIDE of Twilight.

    • Loranat

Seriously – that thing may distract me the whole movie!

      • Flagirl

It is unbelievable that with such success and budget they can’t afford nice wigs. It looks like she got struck by lightning and the thick part above her forehead is screaming “wig”. How do we watch without staring at the wig instead?!

  • Thad

It’s like Popeye and Bluto fighting over Olive Oyl, I just don’t see the appeal. Bella is just a sad ugly white girl

    • ka@

not nice! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right!

  • Catherine

I really hope David Slade shows a new side of the Twilight franchise… But the teaser seems like a plain continuity of New Moon. I was hoping it would finally get a little darker. Plus, as much as I love Rob Pattinson, his Edward is really boring me, acting so dramatic all the time. Is it just me or he wasn’t like that in the first movie?

    • Heather2

I agree. I wanted something darker and edgier. This just seems to be a continuation of NM. I thought the whole point of DS coming on board was to go in a different direction.

      • Hmmm…

I’m thinking David Slade’s editor might have tried to go darker and edgier, but then he go fired. Summitt knows what makes money now, so you can bet the next two movies will be full of cheesy romantic lines, constipated stares from Edward, shirtless Jacob, and weak storyline.

  • frencht

The full trailer will be available TOMORROW – MARCH 11TH and not Friday.

    • ka@

      on the web? what site?

  • c-squared

FINALLY I was wondering when they were going to release the first trailer. They released a trailer for New Moon 5 months before release date. I was getting antsy/I’m the biggest loser.
