I watched it from day one!! I was obsessed with the movie.. and when I saw billboards for the series.. I was thrilled. Its still the best show to ever be on TV!
I was 12 and I fell in love with Btvs.It was the best part of my week sometimes.
I was another young one when it premiered- I was 11. But I was completely hooked to the show from day one. Still one of the best shows ever made.
I didn’t start watching Buffy until season 2, starting with “Becoming, Part I” actually. It’s a hell of an episode to start with, I’ll tell you that. And boy, did it hook me! I was a sophomore that year, and it was always terribly cool that I was the same age as the characters on the TV show that I loved.
I graduated from high school with the Scoobies, and I started college with them, too. It was, and always will be, a huge part of who I am.
Thank you, Joss. Thank you for everything.
I have watched Buffy since its inception.
I really miss Joss’ presence on tv now. I will follow ANYTHING Joss lends his name to. He’s THAT good.
BTW, the WB CANCELLED Angel, Joss had nothing to do with it. GRR ARRGH!!!!
I never really watched it, just the horrible movie, and concluded the show must be equally horrible. But then, Freshmen year in College I saw the episode where Buffy Mom was taken to the hospital after she died. From then on, I was hooked and discovered the greatness that it truly was. So I guess I started watching in Season 4, but even though I watched reruns on FX and new ones while it was still playing; once it ended I bought the 7 seasons DVDs. Best Purchase ever BTW.
my first ep was Bad Eggs and I was hooked. I still remember when EW had message boards and the Buffy board was the first place I ever posted as a cyber entity. I still watch the dvds twice a year and don’t think any show was as solid as Buffy from beginning to end. all shows wobble but compared to say Heroes which fell apart in season 2 Buffy was strong till the end. a few missteps and bad eps(Beer Bad, Dawn patrol) but it’s pretty much a very good novel that’s worth revisiting regularly.
You know, it’s funny. I’m new to the Buffy party. I was laid up around halloween, recovering from surgery and I stumbled across Angel reruns.
I mainly knew Whedon’s work from his excellent X-Men run, so I began watching Angel. Got hooked, caught up with the whole series on TNT.
Followed Whedon’s work on Buffy Season Eight from Dark Horse and am now in the process of watching the whole series.
Midway thru Season 4 now. Loving every minute.
Spike rules, no matter which show he’s on.
I think I was 12 when I watched it first on a Saturday afternoon in TV, was never a big fan of it. But when the fifth season hit the TV, I became a Buffnerd. I cried during the series finale. And it’s one of my Top 10 All-Time Favorite TV shows.
Every year, a rewatch of the complete series is a MUST until I die or get slayed.
it’s such an awesome show.
i started watching the re-runs after it was already over and i was hooked.
aaaah willow, how i miss you…
Two words: Spike, Angel. Need I say more? Spike, to this day, is STILL the hottest “man” ever. I could drool over his delicious drawling voice and rock hard abs all day long. This entire show was genius. The entire Scooby Gang resonated with me and Willow and Tara’s lesbian love is largely responsible for why I’m decidedly pro-gay rights now. They were just the sweetest couple. Plus, Hush and Once More With Feeling are still two of the best tv episodes ever, bar none. Thank you Joss Whedon for introducing us to the kick buttness that is Buffy
I was 9 also when this premiered and I watched every single episode! I am STILL obsessed. To be honest, I’m currently re-watching the entire series for at least the 3rd time!
Meeting David Boreanaz is still one of the greatest days of my life. Buffy forever!
Also, Fox/WB/FX, shame on you for shuffling around the show so it got to be hard to watch. I LOVE Buffy but even I couldn’t wake up at 6 am to watch it. Gimme a break guys!
“the body”, the episodes when buffy’s mom dies is the single best representation of a sudden death that i have ever seen in tv or movies. it was exactly how i felt when my grandma died unexpectedly
I was in fifth grade when Buffy started…and I LOVED it. I even got my (almost senior citizen at the time) dad hooked on it. I still miss this show.
